    What I Got Today!

I'm of same mind. I tell folks we live simple. We do. Got an acre with 2 houses [both are very modest. 800sq/ft and 900sq/ft], pay $700/month. Drive a 1989 Oldsmobile beater every day. Am thrilled at the prospect of a "new" 2002 Toyota for $2000. Roll my own smokes. Heat with wood.... own an H/K 630 and a pair of LaScalas I do have my priorities we don't go out. Tucson is 60 miles. We "eat out" in. Buy some good stuff and cook it ourselves. "Shot the wad" and bought a couple T-bones the other night. yammerin' on and it's game time.... glad you are enjoying a simpler lifestyle. I am/do. I've been practicing at it for a while.
  3. just so I don't have dig so deep to look at my babies.... April, May, June, July, August ... I get to visit them in Sept. They will be home early Oct.
  4. I started very small ... R15M 2nd pair of Klipsch I bought was a pair of LaScalas. Anything less than Klipschorn is a gateway
  5. eh??? I WORKED IN THE BACK-END OF A BOWLING ALLEY FOR 25 YEARS. [except for these tree crickets that never quit] my hearing is better than the wife's. or she is better at selective deafness. Grand came over this AM wanting PaBill to make breakfast. Asked her what she wanted. PANCAKES! She helped. Mixed the batter and pouring. I had her telling when to turn them, too ... with some prompting. Wasn't gonna let her try her hand at flipping cakes, yet. She 3 and a half. Bad enough I had her in proximity to a hot griddle to pour. I moved the pan to her for that.
  6. Wife found a car she thinks she wants. a 2002 Toyota Corolla. $2000. a friend's mother's car. We don't need fancy. If it's in good shape, might be worth putting a little money in. I figure, at least, $1000 to fix a "used" car, after you buy it. I missed a beauty. It was an older [2000ish] Buick. V6 EFI, leather, garaged, 70,000miles. $4500
  7. things are just greening around here. My spring bulb flowers, Daffs, hyacinth, narcissus are done. Dutch iris and canna lilies are coming. Spring weeds/wild flowers are a little late.
  8. that's one I can relate to, in spades. I had things [at the bowling alley] I could do scooting around on my butt, on the floor. Just don't make me have to get up and move suddenly. "Sudden" takes a while, now. When I wear my sarong, I feel like I should "accessorize". A big cane knife or an AK. I only wear the sarong around "town". We have folks in leather breech clouts. It's pretty modest. But I do have my "Sunday Go To Meetin" bib overalls. I can blend in pretty well. You won't know I'm crazy until you talk to me.
  9. that's a classic Zappa
  10. that RandyCalifornia is the extent of mine HaHaHa I saw them in a small club in Tucson ... late '70's
  11. if he lost 100lb and was wearing a sarong ... it could be me. what's a barber chair?... Been getting bad haircuts for free for a long time. DIYer - cut it myself Wife doesn't even help.... Sans "Honey, you missed a spot"
  12. I don't have that one. Did figure the RandyCalifornia would cause someone to dig it out. Thnx
  13. our roof is pitched slightly steeper than a sewer line. I used to get my climbing thrills helping at the ranch. Climbing windmills. Going up the metal loop rungs is OK. Coming down, with gear lube on your hands makes it interesting
  14. I locked mine and someone used a universal key. Then had a window to replace too. Thnx
  15. me too ... I'm hiding behind a face full of hair now
  16. I did janitorial at the bowlng alley for a couple years. It was casual once they decided to do it my way. They had me scheduled to work 10PM - 6AM. It only took 3 or 4 hours to clean the place. Got them to change my hours to 4AM - Noon. That gave them 3 hours more useful time. I bartended, cooked, learned the desk, mechanic ... upper level mgt fought me the whole time. And I still had free time to socialize with the customers.
  17. if you Italian [in mind or body] both are aphrodisiacs never seen an Italian vampire movie have you HaHaHa
  18. Blackhawk overhead... gonna do what I do random change up got a crinkled smile from the wife last night when I proclaimed, "Eating onions cures bad breath!" nobody accused me of not trying to have a little fun. it good for ya
  19. when I was doing R/C helicopters we strove to build a crashproof helicopter. Every improvement revealed a[nother] weakness. By the time we made it crashproof, it was too heavy to fly. Problem solved.
  20. lifestyle philosophy changes.. shows in political swings. Sometimes inversely. I was just gonna say My wife was OK with me "gaming" last night. I did make a nice dinner. T-bone, baked potato and a cucumber/onion salad. And she brought home Mexican. The Mexican got put in the fridge. happens quite a bit. we get to feeling sorry for the other and try to "treat" ... at the same instant.
  21. I was born, hatched, sprouted in '55 too young to be a hippy and too old to be a yuppy ... a tweener
  22. I was gone for 3 months. Left the neighborhood "kids" [who were the most likely to cause problems] in change of "security". That way, they knew they were already on the hook if something was amiss.
  23. makes for good story after it is over... then you laugh
