  1. I have heard stories of people having their subs cranked and causing damage around the house or apt. Some examples may include pictures falling off walls, monitors or tvs falling of furniture, etc. I just want to hear some other peoples stories, I'm sure there is many in this forum with all the RSW's, SVS's, and a few Sunfire's.
  2. I was thinking about geting the HTS 2500 or 2600. But I heard it can sometimes increase the bass but also dampen the highs. Did you hear any change in speaker sound? Do I really need one if my system sounds good. My only problem is that I have a hum from my subwoofer. I have a Denon 2802 AVR receiver, Denon 270 CD player, a VCR, TV, and DVD player, so I was wondering if I should get one or not because unlike most people I dont have lots of amps and stuff so I was wondering if I even need one or if a regular surge outlet would work fine(which I have now). I live in a newer house and apt. so I should have good wiring in the walls too.
  3. I've listened to Infintity, Klipsch, and Polk Audio in a listening room at a local dealer. All 3 had very distinct sounds. The Infintity and Klipsch were very different. I would highly recommend not using the klipsch. Infact I would recommend trading in the IL40's for RF-7's. No but really they sound completely different and you would notice it when listening.
  4. I think it can harm the computer. Couldn't the magnet from the sub erase the hard drive? I put one close, but I made sure there was 2 feet and 1/2 of plywood between the two from my computer desk(yes I know wood isn't a great magnetic shield). I'd be carefull.
  5. I forgot to mention that if there is some major power lines going near your place that it can sometimes make noises and the Monster HTS 2600 or any other model should take care of it.
  6. I'm not as intelligent as the others on this page but I have 2 suggestions. First is to maybe get a line conditioner like a Monster HTS 2600. I have heard from some that it can eliminate sub Humms and other unwanted noises, so it may work with you. See if you can buy one from a local store with the ability to return it if it doesn't solve your problem. Next like others said it could be the Sony. My brothers Onkyo once started to humm (Not Hiss, but both are unwanted)and he couldn't find the source of the problem. His was under warranty yet so he took it in cause it kept getting worse. Here the mother board was bad, they replaced it for free and no problems since. Its not real likely, but even with any company they do make a few defective ones.
  7. I looked for a long time before I bought speakers and the RF-3II's and RC-3II is what I ended up with. They are extremely clear speakers. I 100% absolutely love them for HT. I love them for music too, but I have to admit they are a tad bit better with movies. These speakers have yet to distort on me or clip. I play them at all levels including extremely loud levels for long periods of time. I can't say that I am disappointed with them at all. They are also in my opinion one of the best looking speakers around. The only thing they lack is big bass. They however are not designed for big bass so you will want a sub, which I believe you said you have. They have bass, but not the levels that I look for, but I'm a bass freak. Get them, and your friends will be even more impressed.
  8. He's right check ebay. But if your lucky enough to be by a college, put up signs there. All kinds of students look at the ads hanging up on campus and you might get a not so smart kid looking for a sub who is willing to pay just like a hundred or so under your price.
  9. Sorry guys, I couldn't sleep. I didn't mean to swear. I won't say Bose again.

  11. Talk to Ear, or Actually talk to Justin. He is building a $42,000 system. I ordered a booklet from Legacy once. They have a speaker that I beleive is either $10,000 or $15,000 EACH! With 7 of them you should have enough speakers. I would go with Sunfire Signature subs too. Ah hell just buy the bose cubes and get it all in one package
  12. Maybe you shoudl get a Denon then you can choose from 120 - 80.
  13. You can get an equilizer if you want, but the Denon also has controls. An equilizer would give you more options and let you be more specific with the level of bass and treble
  14. I agree, trial and error is the only way to answer that question. BTW how do you like your IL 40's I was considering them at first, but when I went to demo them against the Klipsch and Polk Audio they seemed so muddy. No highs, no lows. I read so much stuff about them and when i listened to them I was really disappointed. I wonder if it was just a bad speaker I was listening too or if it wasn't broke in or if the receiver settings we off because it could have been set for a different speaker. Cause I was shocked when I didnt' like them after all their good reveiew. I hear their great with a H/K receiver, same manufacturer.
  15. erikjohn, Where did you get that southpark one? Want to get one too cause I lost my old one?
  16. I'll buy the sub for $2. I need a second one anyway. Ok maybe $50, but thats my final offer.
  17. Should we all email him and tell him how bad his system sucks. You know, just to make him feel great. I went to the mall of america once and there was a bose store so I went in to look around. I go in and they beg you to go to the presentation. I said I just wanted to look around and the lady was like no it will only take 15 minutes. So I go in the HT room they have set up. They have the bose cubes for the center and rears. In the front they have these big *** speakers that are 2'X18"X6' (W,D,H). I was like, whatever. So they do there presentation. It was like nature sounds and alittle bit of symphony music. The whole time saying how great the sound was and how cool it is to listen to a bug fly around the room. I was almost ready to stand up and say that this is crap and any 5 channnel stereo can do this. Well later on a guy walks out and pulls up a present box and shows that the little receiver was hiding under there, then he pulls out the sub from behind the lazyboy. Finally he grabs the speakers and pulls them off the walls to reveal to everyone that the bose cubes were really behind this fake decoys. As if everyone was suppost to fall over and faint. So they continue to talk about their system some more and then do a presentation with the sub. He takes foam ball and covers the port in the subwoofer. Then he removes it and repeats multiple times. He tells everyone "isn't that amazing". I was like whatever, I could feel the bass, more or less even here a difference what he removed the ball. My old Aiwa 40 watt 8" sub did more than that. So then they had a question and answer session and I finally got out of there half and hour later to my major dissapoint ment. Thats when I offically became anti bose. No where in the presentation did the music move you. It sucked. It was the same thing you could get from a Aiwa shelf system with a pair a surrouds. I actually would have rather shopped with my girlfriend at the time than go to that presentation again. End of story.

    Best Demo?

I only own 4 DVD's so I'm not much to say. But I like all of them for showing off. Saving Private Ryan DTS, The Fast and the Furious, Monster's Inc. THX, and The Lord of the Rings. I must say even though Monster's Inc. isn't my favorite, it sure does have alot of bass.
  19. Now what the heck did it do. I don't get it, I put my wesite adress inside what you sent me and it didn't work.

You hear alot of people complaining about the Pro Media's, but if you spend alot of time on this forum, one thing you don't hear is people complaining about their towers. You could get the RF-3II's for almost the same price online. Or you could always buy their synergy line. Its all on their web page, great speakers and very reliable.
  21. really, I'm from Wisconsin and I have stayed at some cabins way up north too. Its weird up there, they really do have dirt roads! And of course go Pack for beating Da Bears on Monday night football.
  22. My old saying is, The only good cat, is a dead one.
  23. How do I do that justin? I looked but didn't see any hyperlink option to choose. Also I don't have a digital camera to take pics with or I would definately post on your site.
  24. Thanks alot to both of you. I will check them out. I use my CD player however for music, not my dvd play. Its a new denon, so I think its good. Also I too love my HT, but the music could be better.
