  1. Also a 9/11. September 11th 2012. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/remembering-2012-benghazi-attack
  2. Oregon is investigating arson as the source for several of their fires. In Washington the Hwy Patrol caught an arsonist in the act of setting a brush fire. There’s concern that some of these are extensions of the on-going violence in these states.
  3. How to interpret the Sturgis paper........ https://gizmodo.com/how-to-read-that-damning-sturgis-motorcycle-rally-super-1844987945
  4. Here’s the original paper on the Sturgis covid assertions. Like any group intent on stretching personal desires over practical sensibility Sturgis succored unnecessary risks for spreading covid19. This paper attempts to quantify those consequences and the authors acknowledge the variances in their data. Whether 100 or 10,000 any case of covid19 associated with Sturgis is shameful. Now is the time is to rally to contain this monster...... not to intentionally and recklessly rally to invigorate a middle aged crisis. http://ftp.iza.org/dp13670.pdf
  5. Looks like a lot of improvement. Congratulations!
  6. I’d question intentions. Especially during the Stonehenge time frame their experiences with auditory variations must have been limited to natural phenomena like echoes. They had not built massive enclosed stone structures to know how those materials affected sounds (unlike Egypt). And the purpose of the monument had to be more astronomical/spiritual. If any auditory changes occurred with its construction they must have been happenstance like icing on the cake. Assuming they exist as posited by this paper assigning them ancient intentions is a stretch IMHO.
  7. It’d be interesting to see this repeated today in some level of competition between high end manufacturers. No doubt several would eclipse Klipsch but at what system cost? Of course most people are unaware that most movie theaters use Klipsch products and for some reason Klipsch does not inform them as they sit as a captured audience.
  8. Do remember that covid19 can be very subtle. A person showing no overt symptoms can be infectious. Sure, you know and trust the 20 people you invite. What about all the people those 20 souls interacted in the weeks prior to your event? Being safe with covid19 is not a superficial effort. I’d recommend overkill....... cuz as you correctly note all it takes is 1 person.
  9. Nah...... things they find wrong on MRI scans are usually involved and too often not especially good news. Be happy that the conservative treatments are helping. Looks like you can chalk this one up to ‘getting olde sucks’. Carry on with a positive attitude and renewed vigor. There’s nothing wrong that’ll shorten your life span..... smile, smile 😃.
  10. Well we’re all gonna die from something, right? So we have covid19 and mostly we hear about how many are dying. Oh well, too bad so sad.... sucks to be in a high risk category. But folks are not comprehending what the covid19 virus does to the survivors. Whether you live or die, covid19 is a nasty virus that damages the body. Stop thinking about who did or did not die from covid19. Start asking ‘what has covid19 done to your body?’ What kind of mass ailments will we see in 10 or 20 years because people were complacent about covid19? We all naturally deteriorate with age. Add organ damage from covid19 to that process and systems will fail far sooner than normal. Basically covid19 is an infection you’d like to avoid getting whether you’re high risk or not. Medical science does not know everything about the virus. But what is does know should scare the crap out of you.
  11. Sorry the link won’t link...... looks like Apple updated my device and ruined this deal.
  12. Well here’s a handy piece of information for your next trivia get-together........... https://arstechnica.com/science/2020/09/stonehenge-lego-scale-model-reveals-the-pagan-monuments-unique-soundscape/
  13. Pineapple comes from a bromeliad plant and it is the only bromeliad that produces an edible fruit. Vanilla comes from an orchid and it is the only fruit that comes from any orchid plant. Neither belong on pizza.
  14. Glad to know about your progress. Hope it continues. It sounds promising. You were smart to jump on it quickly.
  15. Black and White Night. Roy Orbison’s PBS dinner club concert. Well done and accurately recorded from the start. It has and requires no enhancements.
  16. Agreed....... what’s pertinent is what’s important right now. As you note there are a host of statistics which may be useful in a wide array of analytics. The article cited was looking to draw comparable data between countries and excess deaths, though rough, offers a relevant synopsis - but not the only one. Guessing you find excess deaths too simplistic and too generalized. It’s similar to treating the body as a bomb calorimeter. That will tell you how well you are doing on your diet but not specifically what your doing to make it happen. It’s still very useful information but not precisely definitive.
  17. The ‘excess’ death numbers are the ones considered most relevant. They do umbrella deaths from all causes for a country and compare the 2020 numbers to the same annualized values historically. So it is death from all causation compared on a yearly basis. And this year we have covid19 in the data mix for the 1st time. Deaths in excess of the average are deemed excess deaths. And there’s a lot of them this year. No - not every excess death will have come directly from covid19. Some might be from emergencies unable to get proper care because covid19 had the available health systems overwhelmed. So excess deaths may or may not come directly from covid19 but likely do reflect the consequences of covid19 and it’s impact on a country. Excess deaths tells us what covid19 is doing to a country in general terms. They compile tons of data specific to covid19 to understand its pathological impact and to trace how its care evolves. Clearly medicine is managing better more recently. And it is nice to see a valid comparison of how various countries have dealt with the pandemic. Some countries chose different pathways and we need to understand how all countries performed.

  19. Good to have a personal contact. Sounds like it might be fluid?? If you have some real pseudoephedrine around you might try a dose to try and open up the ear drainage.
  20. Looked at the referenced paper and it does seem to indicate that hyperacusis can be caused by gabapentin. But I cannot find corroborated material. Attached is the info sheet from the feds on the drug. It is very thorough but does not show ototoxic problems with this drug. I also took this drug for nerve damage and did not have problems. Your dose was the lowest recommended BTW. https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2017/020235s064_020882s047_021129s046lbl.pdf Hyperacusis is what you’re describing. The conflicting info on gabapentin is curious. Unsure if they are related but it needs medical evaluation.
  21. I could not find where this sort of side effect is routine for gabapentin. Do you have any citations?
  22. An OCD person collects and hordes. You sound like you desire to own a specific collection of high end gear to play with and experience........ and you KNOW what you’re doing. Honestly that is the pure definition of ‘audiophile’. Enjoy your learned expertise. Hell, celebrate it!
  23. Whatever brand you choose make sure to ask about transformer hum. Had a Balanced Power conditioner that did work to keep all devices evenly powered through any line current variations but it contributed a very low frequency constant hum from its toroidal transformer. Now I use it for my stained glass devices. I have an Accuphase integrated amp that incorporates a power conditioner and it does not hum. Of course it cost mega$$ too.

  25. Thanks for the clarification and please excuse my abrupt candor. IMHO the way this covid19 mess has been handled from all directions has been disastrous, a perfect storm of idiocy. The big winner has been covid19. Instead of being extinguished covid19‘a natural virulence has outwitted the witless at every turn and at every level. Wishing your family the very best.
