  1. here's some pics, shows what can be done. http://picasaweb.google.com/tmoble/Stevewalls307# click on the slideshow button
  2. Colterphoto had K-77-Ms for sale not long ago. IIRC he had several of them. big square boxes, you can veneer them with anything you want. see www.certainlywood.com and there's a host of others. Various maple veneers are inexpensive and some are knockout gorgeous. Birdseye and tigerstripe are popular. Keep in mind that you have to do the front edges too. I'll see if I can find a link to the snowflake cherry set I did.
  3. Would that be our old buddy Max there, Max Goodman? Has to be, how many guys named Max could there be in ACA?
  4. Plan is to have a sacrificial credit card to use online. AMEX is good. Very favorable policies about fraud. If it gets hijacked call up AMEX and complain, tell them you want a new card with a different number.
  5. nah, he's regressing. he'll be 38 next year.
  6. yeah, but I remember how gorgeous those Belles were. Practically one of a kind compared to oak or walnut. Wonder whatever hapened to them.
  7. one word, uh, URL www.auctionsniper.com I haven't bid live on an auction in at least 5 years. Gues what happens when two guys have proxy bids in? They immediately bid each other up the lower guy's max.
  8. IMO, a true American genius. Got an idea, got it working, changed the world. PWK was similar,
  9. There's a H mod that's been posted on here for years. Ishould have it but I don't or can't find it. Search under John Albright, I think he had posted it. It's small, reversible mod to the crossover, unsolder a wire from one tap and solder it back on another. It attenuates the highs a little in relation to the bass. I thought my H's sounded much better. Mine are '78s I bought new. The sound is better balanced, I don't have the mids or highs screaming at me if I want to crank it up a little. I'll look around on my old hard drive, see if I can find it. See the schematic, IIRC it involved moving the wire for the tweeter feed from Tap 3 to Tap 2. Not a big deal.
  10. What Audible Nectar said. A little knowledge goes a long way in this tubes deal.
  11. It'll blow up your eardrums first. Do you have only one speaker or is that a language difficuly? Klipsch are very efficient speakers, don't need much power to get very loud. Welcome to the forum, where are you?
  12. "No good deed shall go unpunished" Learned it at work.
  13. those are not output tranny's and won't work for that purpose. They're for stepping up/down systems to the 70 volt commercial standard.
  14. What Mike said. Call/email Craig at NOSValves. He is the builder of the amps and is very good about helping out with issues. Having said that, vintage /NOS Mullard GZ-34 are hard to beat.
  15. Case in point, I can't even remember how I ran across this, I think it was on Chevelles.com. A Slovenian jazz choir? I didn't know there was such a thing.... This starts out real quiet, hang in for a minute. It's cool. Slovenian jazz choir does Toto
  16. A guy could snag the tube amp out of it, let the rest go. It's been done. depends on the nature of the amp whether it's worth it or not. Some guys here have had good results with console tube amps. Check to see that the PS is on the amp and if it has some kind of reasonable looking output transformers.
  17. Handy at all? you could pull the cage and look to see if that screw between the 8 and 4 terminals is connected to common ground. It is a little goofy, things weren't nearly so standardized back then.
  18. Tom, check http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/121061.aspx?PageIndex=1 for a pic of the grill cloth I have.
  19. Tom, got your emails and replied.
  20. Tom, can you post a pic of that cloth? I have a bunch of cane grill cloth left over from a custom Belle project, if it matches it's yours for the asking. (and shipping)
  21. oh no. "I can beat that!" I knew it was wrong but I couldn't stop myself.
  22. so, jb, too much time, not enough to do? [ip]
  23. vacuum repeatedly with a dusting brush. work vertically and horizontally. Are there stains? cigarette odor? Febreeze is good for that. Don't be afraid to hit them hard with whatever source you like. You already have LS so you've probably weeded out the poor recordings and source components which are mercilessly exposed on either. LS made my Heresys disappear, Khorns made my LS disappear. Khorns are just amazing for the effortless presentation. you're wise to just sit on them awhile, get used to the sound.
  24. Seth, I've PM'd you with my email, send it along to him, see what we can work out.
