  1. Off topic, but i met ronald jenkees in Sacramento years ago! He has some great tunes.
  2. Looking for type a or aa, maybe some alk universals? Located in tucson arizona, would prefer local sale, but paypal is fine. Looking to purchase after next weekend (nov. 8th). let me know whats available, thanks.
  3. . I already did the pillow fill, i listen to alot of house, disco and dance music, but i also listen to folk, bluegrass, and some classic rock. I think im going to either build some crossovers (with the help of another member) or grab some crites. I think my plan is to biamp with a 510, but thats a bit down the road. The serials read, 22t697, so they are 79's if i underatand that correctly. They have k43 woofers, k55v's and a k77m and a k77, so mismatched tweeters.
  4. I have a switchable 2 way stereo/3way mono crossover, everything is crossed and amplified correctly. I do appreciate the concerns, but i can assure it is correctly setup.
  5. The cabinets werw originally birch black, they have been vaneered with custom moldings around the front. I kept the k77's in, and just swapped the lense, happen to know where to find mid washers?
  6. @WMcD, i have them tri amped with a 3 way mono crossover, its just some pa rack gear i had lying around. And the tweeter is not the t350, it is in fct the t35. The driver specifies t35, and the lense is basically identical, except it has more mass, and resonates alot less imo.
  7. I picked up my first pair this last week! Its my first time really sitting down with theese and needless to say i am very impressed. I bought them without crossovers, so i set them up in a 3 way mono, and after listening for a few days i can safely say i am hooked. These are very natural and fun speakers. I can also see how many are into modifications with these, i already swapped the original tweeter lense with an ev t35 chrome back lense, same phase plug, but way beefier, and the difference is quite substantial to me. Anyway, ill be having questions regarding upgrade paths in the near future.
  8. Picked up la scalas on tuesday! I have yet to listen due to lack of crossovers, but i should be able to snag a pair within the next month or so.
  9. There is a pair for sale in new Mexico, check out the thread 4 Klipsch horns for sale
  10. That guy is actually right above you! I met with him the other day and ended up with some vintage EV stuff, checked out some tube gear etc. super nice guy! I did however miss the sale of his la scalas
  11. I'm also in the market for original la scalas, I'd be willing to trade with cash for a pair
  12. Most definitely, id say it's one of the more competitive sound per dollar PA's in my area.
  13. Not expecting alot of interest here, but I'm selling off my pa gear for local sale, I'd be willing to split it up, but id like to see if anyone is interested in buying it as a package. 2x Samson 2400 power amps, Samson s-2-way stereo crossover (3way mono), Samson s curve 231 dual 31 band graphic eq, bbe 482i Sonic maximizer, Stanton rm 404 mixer, 2x EV force i25 cabinets, 2x jbl jrx 100 18" subs, 4x 30-50 foot speakon cables, all xlr patch cables etc. Asking 800, fairly firm on that price. The rack is also lighted with a Samson pb9 power distributor.
  14. I'd be willing to spend upwards of 2k, anything more than that I'd rather keep saving for other projects, there is a pair in PHX that is over 3k a little spendy for my blood, they are in great shape though.
  15. I recently found some technics sb-cr55's and pioneer reciever with a dirty volume encoder, on the curb going to the trash the other day. apparently I can't seem to sell anything to save my life, so they are going to a friend without a stereo. If it's free, it's for me!
  16. Might be a bit of a long shot, but I'm looking for a pair of la scalas in Tucson, I'd be willing to drive most anywhere in Arizona for a modestly priced pair. Not in a rush to buy, but I am putting my feelers out there. Feel free to reply here or pm my inbox, thanks.
  17. If you were in Arizona I'd be interested in the la scalas, but I'd imagine they wouldn't be cheap to ship.
  18. I'd say 20-30 hours? I built the kit over a few days, spending a few hours after work
  19. I just posted some pictures of my bottlehead s.e.x. build on the tube forum. This was my first soldering job, and the s.e.x. is a bit more complex than the crack, I got a few pictures of the underside. The crack should be a pretty simple build for you, and you can roll tubes, upgrade caps, really make it sing if your into the diy stuff. The bottlehead forums are super helpful and alot of guys will post their own mods and upgrades. I think the appealing aspect of bottlehead stuff is the community and upgrade options/support for your project. I haven't got into diyaudio forums and projects, but I can assume the guys over there are helpful too.
  20. I recently finished this little guy a few weeks back, I needed something to power my akg k712s, and possibly some higher efficiency speakers down the road. It's the bottlehead s.e.x. kit. I still want to stain the base and tidy up a few things, hopefully In the future if like to build a few more amps.
  21. Thanks for everybody's input, I've also been reading a bit about kp-600 systems, and those have also caught my interest, if anything turns up on somewhat locally (Arizona) I'd be in the market, but id assume my chances are slim to none.
  22. Thanks @chris a , you've been super helpful. My questions wern't directed towards listening at a higher volume per se, but more at the size of the horns having a greater presence of sound effecting nearby rooms at the same decible as smaller nearfields.
  23. I also wanted to ask about directivity of the bass bin, since most of the sound is being directed through the front, how much is radiating off the rear of the cabinet? Considering my current speakers are rear ported and close to a wall, would the horn be directing a majority of the sound into the room and be quieter on the other side of a wall? Or would the cabinet itself radiate sound at a similar db to a ported speaker?
