  1. Yes I’ve read about REW. Thinking about the Umik fro Parts Express, thanks I’ll look at X over pro. I’m finally coming around to how important XO’s are to overall sound,
  2. Lower from 600 to 500? I was looking at Al’s 500hz XO, dcm 50 seems fine to 500 for sure, maybe 400. i never really listen above 90db thanks again! I never expected personal service. I am always amazed at the knowledge of people on this forum!
  3. Any chance you could make a quick sketch of what you would do, with component values for future reference? I’d really appreciate it! You’ve been a huge help, I really appreciate you giving me some of your time tonight, Really, I do!
  4. Here’s what I got from Bob. Tap 1 for squawker lead, disconnect top 1.5uf(leaving bottom 1.5 in play) move tweeter lead from terminal 4 to 3 Do I have that right? Thanks
  5. Any advice to mod the B2 would be great, Thanks
  6. 8 ohm, I did not see they are offered in 16. I’ve moved them all over, I built 4” tall stands on wheels to make it easier. Generally about 6” out from wall, 2’ from corners. I got a used Ps Audio class D amp that helped bass tightness a lot. its obvious I’m begging you to sell me networks right?....just wanted to make sure!
  7. Crites 120. Big improvement over k77! Eminence 3015 L.F. 4 woofer. Like I say I feel like the proper network is needed to tie together what may be a jumbled mess!
  8. Dean, I replaced k600, with a k510, 10x18” with 2” entry. Probably a rash decision, I’m not sure, But I had read a lot of good comments on forum about this horn so I front mounted it. I need crossover help to tie all this together! Any advice greatly appreciated. Or willingness to build me a set of anything you think will work, or a schematic, or opinion. I’m reading everything I can on design, but I’ve got a ways to go!
  9. Emil, saw this post and wanted to ask if you have any crossover tips, I have Cornwalls that I just put dcm 50’s into. I’d love to have Deans XO’s but from what I read in this forum he’s not really looking for work? Trying to figure it crossovers for these, have Crites b2 now, don’t know if I can modify or start new, ALK universal? IDK what to do!
  10. Yes, feel like the measuring approach is what I need to do. I got the BC dcm50’s, they are really nice, I won’t try to describe them, but they are startlingly “present” at times. I see getting these as a 2 step process, now I need to figure out how optimize these drivers with possible crossover updates. Currently have Crites B2’s, which Bob included the ability to connect the squawker to terminal 1,2 or 3, and the ability to change capacitance from 3 to 1.5uf on the squawker/tweeter lead before the autoformer. I currently am hooked to terminal 2 with the full 3uf. I feel like my ignorance of crossovers is really a problem. I’m reading everything on this forum with the word crossover in it! thanks for everybody on this forum!
  11. Hi, I, like so many others I’m sure, have been pondering low watt SET amps. I think it’s clear 2-3 wpc is enough to get 96db+ speakers loud, and SET has a certain “magic” but what boy other qualities, power, scale, bass, etc? Can a flea watt serve as a general purpose, everyday, all types of music solution. Any of you using small amps like this? Reflections? Thanks
  12. Going to simplify this..speakers sound good, but “distorted” at moderately loud volume. I’m realizing crossover is way more important than previously thought. Want to be more careful in “upgrading” would getting ALK universals be wise to try different settings, mic and software to hopefully “see” the problem so I’m more informed how to find solution? I like tinkering with these, but need a more methodical approach. Thought of getting dcm50 mid drivers, but I think that requires crossover overhaul.i could use some mentoring from the group, thanks, Ted
  13. Hi, After getting a set of Cornwalls and ding some driver upgrades(?) I’m coming to the realization that crossovers are far more important than I ever realized to optimize the potential of each driver and blend the 3 together. Beside reading this forum, which is huge, how can I start to learn the intricacies of crossover design? Currently I have a new set of Cries B2’s that I thought I could start to slowly modify as I lean, I also have a 10 yr old set of Crites B3. I feel like I can learn as I go by solving problems I hear, but how to start. Related issue, I feel I need a mic and software to really do this, is this right? What should I get? i don’t expect a tutorial, just a shove in the right direction thanks, Ted
  14. yes, i feel the harshness is gone. the sound loses all "dimensionality" but i suppose that is the lack of high frequency? putting my ear 12'' straight out from active tweeter i hear some simbelence? harshness? hissing?
  15. Hi, you say go from terminal 2 to 1, I’ve heard by others to go from 3 to 2. I have B2 crossovers currently hooked up to terminal 3, Bob made me adjustable clips and told me to switch to terminal 2. Does going from 2 to 1 provide a further 3 dB reduction?
  16. I’ll try that today to confirm by listening to mid and tweeter independently.
  17. That would make quieter, right? I’d like to get a better sound, not just lower the volume on a bad sounding driver. I hope that doesn’t sound sarcastic. The Crites 120 is an improvement over the old k77, that’s for sure, I think I’m just getting more critical as my ears learn to listen. trying to understand the driver/horn synergy is really tough, figuring out if the distortion/harness is driver or horn
  18. Tom, that’s a great point and a way of thinking I was following. Currently I have Cornwall 1’s with Crites 120’s and and A55g mids. I thought the mids were harsh but when I slowed down and really listened it’s the tweeters that are giving a harsh, hissy, edgy sound(choose any adjective that is the opposite of smooth) Above 75 dB this becomes really noticeable. I’ve recently heard of Dave A’s aluminum horns with dc10(?) driver. many thought before I spent more money? Trying to learn how to make real upgrades that give me what I want, not just a “buckshot” aproach. Thanks, Ted
  19. Wondering if anybody had tried the Fiatal 15 pr400 woofer in a Cornwall? The specs look good as far as my limited understanding goes. It seems to stay really strong to 50 hz. Anybody ever try this?
  20. I Read this advice and it made me wonder. I have Cornwall 1’s with some harsh mid sounds. Currently have Crites A55g drivers with Crites B2 crossovers. I am not crossover savvy at all. Thinking about a drive upgrade for more clarity. Using PS Audio Stellar amp, awaiting arrival of Prima Luna tube preamp, thinking the pre will soften the sound, but not provide more clarity. many adice on getting better midrange clarity at I’ve 70db? Thanks
  21. Hi, wondering what you think about your Muzishare? How do the x5 and x7 compare with each other? I’m thinking about purchasing and trying to get some real feedback. I’m using with Cornwalls thanks so much for any observations, Ted
  22. I’m debating these 2, can you describe both a little? I have no way to audio the LM 216, but they seem to be loved by everybody that owns them. I need something to smooth my Cornwalls, they have a little high- mid harshness with my PS Audio, thanks
  23. Hi, I got a set of Cornwall 1’s recently. I’m running them with a PS Audio stellar 300 and a Felix 6922 tube pre. Sound is strong and solid, but a little harsh in the upper end. Replaced tweeters with Crites 120 which helped. Thinking a tube amp might give a little more smoothness. I’m considering Prima Luna, Bob Latino st70, Line magnetic 216, (maybe even Yaqin ms13, and I hear good and bad about Rouge) Any experience with under 2000$ (used or new) amps? Looking for smooth, but detailed. i know this is a pretty open question, but just looking for peoples experience. thanks, Ted
  24. I saw that u tube review of Musishare, it sounds similar in architecture to many others, it has many of same features. Did you buy through amazon? How long have you had it, any problems? How’s the bass? Very Interested , so many similar amps, like everybody I’m trying to buy without a demo, which is a little nerve raking!
  25. Glad to hear, I’m a little nervous about China Hi Fi, I have nothing against China, just thought I read about counterfeit LM, and it does seem like the amount of similar looking products from China that just look rebranded is confusing.
