  1. i'm just wondering why everybody here really hates bose...... it doesn't make sense.... Serisouly for what they are they produce big sound. I don't know of any other company that can make a sub sat system that small sound that good. I think that the qiuntets are decent, but they aren't as small as the am16's... i don't get it. I still have a realm of respect for bose, because if you have ever heard the 901's sound amazing. The whole key to making bose sound good is using Onkyo componentes or integra same thing..... Bose were desgined with Onkyo and on anything else they sound like rancid ****..... And you people here can't tell me that you do not at least respect onkyo or integra, because i am a firm belliever that they are the best solid state receivers made.
  2. All damage to your hearing is pernament. Everytime you hear a ringing in your ears, or it hurt to hear loud sounds, pain through out your ears for no reason..... These are all signs of hearing loss..... once it happens you can never get it back so, i don't know
  3. I can't beleive that people would try to pull crap like that. Seriously you can't do that. He should be shot for trying to pull something like that. I hope he gets negative feedback from everybody out there...
  4. do you like your projecter, i have the same one hooked up on my system... I got a piece of gold plated s-video and it looks preety good except that i still get white lines that scroll up the screen..... do you get that? Your HT room sounds preety bad A$$. Mine will be done as soon as I find a way to cover up some o the wiring and get another couch set and stuff.
  5. Seriously though.... how much bass do you need after a 110 dB sound? Ehh I mean 128 is about the equivalent of a JET.... a 110 dB is a lot of sound. Maybe you might want to get your hearing aid checked out or something? All i am saying is that for the price range that he wants to spend in he is best off getting something smaller and more accurate. You have to agree that the Rsw10 puts the ksw15 to absolute shame. And the sufire sig.. yeah that is amazing for its size. Sorry I don't like to rattle my whole house apart, I mean I actually like to hear something other than bass. Whatever, yeah I was preety bad *** in tombstone. Serisouly you are a child. The first thing you do is bash my name? What were you thinking? fine if you disagree with my opinion thats what a forum is, but its not designed to bash people. But whatever I guess thats the cool thing to do is to act like a 3rd grader. whatever
  6. OHH MY GOD!!!! $10.00 ohh my god. I wish i owned one of those cd players just to get that 10 so i can buy some sweet awia sound products. lol what a rip off.......
  7. i know that you like bass a lot, but this is always important to remember the quality of the bass. I would give up a lot of kick for acuracy bass, tight fast bass is where it is at. If i were you I would stay away from the ksw series in general, but even more so any 15' sub, personally i refuse to have any sub over 10' because the bass becomes so slow and inaccurate its a joke. If i were you i would take these to options. One step up and buy the rsw 10' its not to much more than the ksw 15 online and stuff, go to acousticsounddesign.com to get prices, te second option is to go with a different brand ie paridigm or infinity if you don't want to spend the money. The only thing i have to say is stay away from big drivers. a quality small sub will go a lot longer in sound quality then a big one. The other thing is to make sure you hook up your sub through the pre out with at least monster bass 550 if not the z series...
  8. hey if you want to stay on the cheaper side, i would go with the infinty entra IL 100. If i were you i would stay a away from a 15. They are not acurate the bass is loose and sounds muffled. Unless you want your house to just rattle apart. If you like tons and tons of bass go with the rsw10, but if you want a fast moving and acurate sub for cheap look into the infinity. But stay away from the 15 and and the LF 100, i think that sub sounds worse than the 15, i really don't like any sub over 10 because all it does is add loudness and punch, i'd rather have clear tight bass that is really really acurate.
  9. The R in the serial number means 1977 build year. I'm not sure what the last S is in the monel. LS-BLS: LaScala, Birch, Laqueur, ?. Mine are LS-BWO, Birch, Walnut Oil. The "S" stands for stain LaScala, Birch, Laqueur, Stain
  10. uhh, I happen to like bose a lot, but if you use there piss poor sound systems they sound like crap. The other thing that makes bose sound good is when they are hooked up to an Onkyo or Integra product. All Bose sound systems are designed to use Onkyo and Inegra and the only way to reach the full dynamic peaks is to use the onkyo or integra products.
  11. Where do you think the best position of your rear speakers are. A lot of people have them on the sides of them about 1 meter above there heads. I was wondering if anyone here uses a bipolar or dipolar setup and if they do i they like there sound. I was also wondering if people mounted there rears on there ceiling and have them facing straight down at them.
  12. yeah i have been just about every where, so far the best prices i have seen for the brand new in box is at dealznet, 265 with shipping for the kw12 and 624 for the rsw10, and after reading reviews and stuff i really want the rsw10, its just a matter of spending the money or not. I mean from my stand point and my expierence its always better to go the next step than what you want because you'll never be satisfied thats why i'm really leaning tworads the rsw10. But also I figure that i would look into used subs, to get a feel for the prices. you know
  13. I am interested in buying a ksw 10 or the rsw 10. If anyone is interested in selling let me know
  14. If anyone here is interested in selling a Ksw 10, or an Rsw 10, please respond with history of the sub, price, location, and possibly pictures if available. Thanks-------
  15. I am also interested, you got pics etc, and what it was used for etc. thanks
  16. as long as your sub is not damaged. and your interested in selling, i am very very interesting in buying, so if everything is in good working condition, and you come up with a fair price, let me know. thanks
  17. If i were you, I would bag both those ideas, and buy an onkyo or an integra. in my opinion onkyo and its sister company integra sell the very very best solid state receivers on the market. I think that they blow dennon and sny outof the water, if you bought an onkyo txds 989 ver2, i promise you that it would be more than any receiver you could have ever dreamed. That receiver is just amazing. Or Even the txds 898 is really really nice i you don't want to spend big bucks, but sinceyou have the rf7's i'd say just go all out and buy the txds 989 ver2, and call it amazing, because it would be better than good, i promise only good can come out of an onkyo product
  18. all i have to say is if my friend had the rf-7's and was going to give me a deal, i would throw away my stuff and buy the 7's. They are so amazing. I am a huge fan of bose, unlike most of the rest of the audiophiles here, so I am a huge fan of the 701's which i think are absoluley amazing, and let me tell you the klipsch rf 7's blow the 701's away with bass, the clarity i think is equal, but the bass just kills the 701's, i would go for the rf7's sel your other stuff use the left over to buy the center, save some money buy the rears and call it good
  19. ---------------- On 10/22/2002 4:50:39 PM elgrillo wrote: I have seen people reccomend these 2 systems as well. 1.Energy Take 5+1 combo: http://www.energy-speakers.com/take5-2/take51_system.html 2.Paradigm cinema 70: http://www.paradigm.com/Website/SiteParadigmProduct/ParadigmModels/SystemChoice/Cinema70.html How do you think these systems compare to the synergy's from klipsch? ---------------------------------- Well here is a little background on the 2 company's i am fimliar with Klipsch is focused on big sound with horn loaded tweeters. In my opinion klipsch has the best sound out of the three. Energy is the sister company to mirage, if you are fimiliar with mirage they concentrate on a large soudstage that is very blended so you don't know where the speakers are thus the name. The Engerys you were probably recomended with cost about $500 for the 5 speakers alone, in my opinion sound worse than the 5.1's,but they might have recomended something else to you. The Klipsch subs once again in my opinion blow away mirage/energy, the bass is so much tighter and acurate. They aren't as loud, but if you are into sound quality and bass that sounds good I'd say go with Klisch. The mirage/eergy subs are louder, but the bass is looser and its just noise, it alost sounds like one big note, but it will rattle your house and your neighbors apart. If you go to Tweeter they will probably try to sell you the mirages which would be the same as the energy but a different name. I am not to familiar with paridigm, but from what i have heard and read from other audiophiles i would say that they are very good as well. At one point i owned mirages, the frx series which was very good but to big for my purposes. The clairty is about equal to any other company and the bass is very good. I would look into the frx 3's ( the bookshelf speakers) fxc and frx r's, but go with a klipsch sub, If i were you I would go the Klipsch route, soley because this is a klipsch forum, i won klipsch, all my friends own klipsch, and the brand is a living legend, it speakes for itself.
  20. my guess is that you blew the fuses on your receiver. The reason that this would happen is because you had the volume all the way up and when you hit the power button, the receiver immediatly demanded a huge amount of power. Therefore this would cause the unit to overload and probably blow the fuses. Just open up your receiver, take the receivers out that are closest to the power supply, and use a voltmeter to test the fuses. Put the voltmeter on ohms any setting and every fuse should read 0 ohms or close to no resistance. If they read anything other than i would make sure you buy the exact same fuses and replace them. The only possible thing that you could have done to your speakers by doing that is warping the woofers, but since it probably happened so fast that you couldn't change the volume i'm almost positive you blew the fuses. Can you still turn the receiver on? Even if you blew your speakers out, most of the time they still make noise, unless you really really wrecked the voice coil. But Klipsch rf-3's, i think would be able to withstand everything that your sony puts out. Let me know what happens.
  21. I would be really really mad about that, but its crazy that they took only one, i have no idea what to tell you other than your probably not going to be able to get another one in good condition or replaced you know? Even if you do it might not sound the exact same since its not its pair, this is my opionion though. If I were you, I'd sell the left one on ebay and then take whatever i get for that and go and buy something in the refrence series, if you have/want to put up the money for them. I'd have to say that the rf7's are absolutley amazing, but are pricey, and also the rf5's and the rf3's are really good as well. Good luck with your problem.
  22. I would say that it is safe to assume that the problem is with the cd or it was written in the song and its supposed to sound like that. There is no way that you can compare high fidelity sound with awia mini systems or whatever it was. I wouldn't worry about it because its probably just the cd. thats just me, but you may want to try the other things the other people said just to make sure.
  23. sorry that i did not clairfy what i meant before, but i meant the gold connectors that connect to your speaker cable, and have a piece of rubber that goes over the connection. The claim is that it gives a greater contact surface, and that since copper corrodes this will prevent from corrosion and make a more permanent good connection. I can see all of this, but I'm not really sold on them, other than it looks neat, which is important to me, but not for $60.00 it would cost for me to do every end of my speaker cable. Unless someone thinks they make a huge difference in quality i would consider. All of my speaker cable is thx certified 14 guage. Thanks
  24. I've owned more speakers in the last year than most people do in a life time, from high end to piece of **** and middle of the road, and I've come to the prefrence of satalites and sub, bose doesn't have the punch i want in the ways of bass but the size is perfect, so i'm just looking at every company's smallest size speakers etc.
  25. sony strda-777ES, I have listened to that as well as the Sony ES STR-DA5ES, str de-185(stereo receiver). I also recall an older model of a sony pro logic receiver altough i do not know what the model is because its no longer in production. I have listened to these receivers and have used them in depth before. And At this point, I'm going to have to agree with the other guy that said that this is out of control. I'm going to leave it here and end the madness, I am not out to BASH your personal stereo, I have had a terrible expeirence with sony everything and I hate them, but like you, i assume, i take pride in my stereo, and would defend it under most situations, like you have.
