  1. Too bad about the organ thing. I had a spare brain you could have had. Now it looks like I will be needing it for college. Peace, Josh
  2. A different avatar, a different sig. I'm stunned. Peace, Josh
  3. Hofy, I used to live outside of madison as a little kid and I remember there being numerous polka stations on the am dial. Have the times changed so much that even the polka stations have gone the way of the buffalo or is the pursuit of the oompah oompah on the airwaves a pastime in which you do not partake?? OH how I remember the joy that came from listening to the radio as a little kid. And the times I spent fishing along the crawfish river... my but that is some beautiful country up there. Peace, Josh
  4. Three would do it for me also. Vinyl, CD, Tuner. The Tuner I actually listen to a whole lot because of WUCF which is the college jazz station of the University of Central Florida. Obviously for me this is in an idealized theoretical system where I would have seperate two channel and HT gear. But then again, what would I know about a two channel setup? I'm using a Sony Playstation2 as my cd/dvd player. Peace, Josh
  5. Rock on Dude, Once again Congrats on the speakers. I will try not to be too green with envy of someone at your age having those speakers. Btw, we have the same center channel, although I hardly ever use mine. Due to the guys up there in two channel land I have been rethinking my setup. This is saturday right?? Later today you should be able to really crank those bad boys up. Just let us know what you think. As it stands I have never heard any of the reference series Just some LaScalas and Heresies and that KS-SC1 Peace, Josh

  7. Pi, the film by Darren Aronofsky is a neat B&W movie from more recent years. The Big Lebowski is also one of my favorite movies from the Coen brothers. Peace, Josh

I like Vanilla Sky better than Minority Report to compare two Tom Cruise movies. ---------------- I too thought Vanilla sky was a great movie, I had a friend over too watch it and he was totaly confused and freaked out by it. Being something of an action movie fan I also really like "Kiss of the Dragon" with Jet Li as well as "The Enforcer" Oh yeah, The Matrix rules. I don't know why I don't own it yet. For me the best part of the superbowl was seeing the new Matrix Reloaded trailer which is available for download on the matrix website. Peace, Josh
  9. Tom, Do you mean "Kind of Blue"?? I don't have this album currently as I gave my copy on vinyl to my little brother(who plays trumpet) for christmas. Before I heard it on vinyl the only copy I had heard was on a cassette tape my little brother had and I remember on one of the songs thinking that there was a bunch of noise at one point. I don't remember which song in particular but when I listened to the album on vinyl I realized that the drummer was playing with brushes and this is what had sounded so aweful on the cassette. I also have a copy Miles Davis "Birth of the Cool" which is a great cd. Another cd I picked up out of the bargain bin at a record shop a few weeks ago is "The very best of Duke Ellington" on the RCAVICTOR label, also a very enjoyable listen. Peace, Josh

My speaks are as old as I am and they sound greeeaaaaat Seriously though My heresies can crank with the best of them. Although I must say those RF5's look mighty nice. Congrats on the new speakers, you've got an incredible setup going on there. What kind of amps do you use with your stuff?? *edit* I just got the bright idea to look at you sig, DUH Peace, Josh
  11. Dave, I currently own a Yamaha HTR-5540 While I have been very happy with this reciever for the price and I think it does great with movies I have come to believe that it is slightly on the grainy side when it comes to two channel listening. Just so you know this was $299 at best buy about a year or so ago. 75wpc DD5.1 DPLII DPLogic DTS External Decoder input all the usual stuff. Unfortunately I have never heard any of the denon stuff. Peace, Josh
  12. I've got an album by the punk band Less than Jake. On their "Goodbye blue and white" album there is a hidden track on both sides of the record. I noticed it one day when the music finished and I thought the leadout groove was making a little more noise then on my other albums. So I looked and the lead out groove wasn't all pf the way to the center of the record. There is a track cut in the record that plays from the center towards the outside edge. I put the tonearm down on the inside of the record and what did I hear but a punk version of "gramma got run over by a reindeer" As I think about it I'm glad they made tha a special track, I would hate to hear that play every time I put that record on. Peace, Josh
  13. One of the car audio companies has been making square subs fo a few years now on the premise that for spl competitions you can have more cone area in a given space then you could with round cones. I really dig the look of those sony speakers, certainly a conversation piece. Btw, can those sony reproduce a square wave Peace, Josh
  14. Wish I knew what to tell you but when mine came it was spotless. It easily looked as clean as my 1 year old yamaha. These units are a steal for people with efficient speakers Let us know how you think it sounds Peace, Josh
  15. Hmmmm, I can believe the poll over there is genuine. After a brief glance through the forum the number of posts that have to do with the Rockets is pretty huge. I figure there are a bunch rocket lovers over there and the results make sense for that forum. I mean c'mon if you were to do a door to door poll that was a true cross section of society think of how many people out there still have old JBL,Altec,Boston Acoustics, etc. This has been a kind of fun week for me but its gotten me a little worn out from trying to keep track of two different forums I'm propably not going to be spending as much time on the boards next month because my college classes start up again which means I'm back to fourty hours of school a week plus homework btw, j malotky. those durn two channel guys have gotten me thinkin' about my setup also. My reciever just dont have the sound for 2 channel music I see tubes in my future... Peace, Josh
  16. I'm kinda disapointed in the mods over there at avs for closing the thread However I am still kinda curious about the rockets so I will likely be lurking and searching the old posts over there. Right now I'm busy listening to music(imagine that), I just got a Leo Kottke album and his guitar playing is incredible. Enjoy the music Peace, Josh
  17. A very nice looking amp. Sure looks like a lot crammed under the hood. How much does the beast weigh? Peace, Josh
  18. Kelly, Thanks for the great links. Peace, Josh
  19. The Bourne Identity, A good take on the spy genre that is certainly more beleivable than the Bond films of late. The soundtrack is in DTS which is nice and the movie has some really nice and effective camera work. Peace, Josh
  20. Allen I understand what you are saying. A while back I set my JBL L46 on a paving stone from home depot and then I also set one on top with strips of vinyl matte between to protect the finish. This tightened up the bass and overall made the sound a little better defined. It would seem that this is the result most of the time when you add mass to a speaker cabinet. Peace, Josh
  21. Erik, The foreplay preamp has become more and more appealing to me lately. I had a question about the tubes the foreplay uses, on the botllehead site they say, "The circuit uses one 12AU7 tube per channel, or one of the 12AU7 variants, 5814, 5963, 6189" I have a number of old RCA, GE, Sylvania and a few Amperex tubes some of which are the 12AU7. Many others are 12AX7 or 12AT7. Are these other 12--- type tubes similar in such that they could be rolled into the foreplay with little or no modification?? I have no previous knowledge of tubes and their numbering schemes and their "families". I'm just curious because if they will work then I would have a number of tubes to roll, if not I still have enough 12AU7's that I would be set for awhile. Also someone(perhaps you)mentioned moding the amp to use tube rectification, any thoughts or comments on the difficulty or benefits would be great. Btw, having a cold is still no fun, even if you get to hang out here. Get well soon Erik. Peace, Josh
  22. My prayers are with you Justin. Oddly enough as I went to bed last night right after I turned off my computer it occured to me that I had not seen justin around for awhile. I almost got back out of bed and turned my cpu back to see if there was any sign of him on the forum. Instead I said a quick prayer that things were alright and went to sleep. The first thing I see this morning when I get on here is the post down in the general questions. I'm praying for a speedy recovery. Peace,(the peace of Christ that is) Josh
  23. Justin, My prayers are with you. Get well soon my HK-430/Heresy toting friend. Peace, Josh
  24. KH, I did kinda change my mind in my post hence the edit. Thats why I mentioned the alesis. At first I was thinking of the crown as an alternative to the radioshack. Peace, Josh
  25. Hi Kudret, I had the same velcro problem with my heresies when they arrived and I just used some superglue on the little velcro tab on the grill. You might also try a hot glue gun though I don't know firsthand whether or not it would work. Peace, Josh
