You could hook up your CD player to the receiver via RCA if you think its the digital connection thats causing the problem.
-
Wow, that is a good deal
-
Haha, serial digicam. The last think I remember using a serial connetion for was my super old Cybiko game thing. No one probably even remembers what that is.
-
WOW, they sure did go fast. All gone now. Hopefully maybe someone from here scooped one up?

What front speakers are you pairing them with? Do you listen to mainly movies, music, or multi-channel music sources? Answering these questions will yield your answer.

They have the 20-39pci and 25-31pc+ on sale bstock. These things go fast...

I've never heard of a virus that could be embeded in an Mp3. If the file ends in the extension .mp3 its safe. If it has something like .mp3.exe then it could be trouble.

I second the picture request

I doubt carpet would effect the performance very much at all, due to the long wavelength of bass waves.

Good deal. Good thing you got a warranty with it, otherwise I'd say I wouldnt really trust floor model.

And why don't they show it on their website? If people can get improved performance from their 25-31 by plugging up one of the ports shouldn't they advertise it on the website? ---------------- The price is not any higher. No, they don't stuff a plug into one of the ports, as the Pci series of subs only has one high-flow port. The sub is only tuned to 22hz by special request. When I was talking to Tom at SVS subs via email, he explained that tuning the sub lower will lower the overall SPL of the sub by a small amount, but would allow it to extend deeper. I'm not sure why they do not advertise it on their website.

I have quite a few bass testing songs. Message me on AIM sometime if you'd like them. screenname = Juba310

It doesn't seem to be very good marketing strategy for SVS, however, to advertise the 25-31pci as having inferior performance to the pb1 when they are in fact the same. I know that if I were selling a product that had better real-world performance than the specs listed, I would change those ratings to accuractly reflect this. ---------------- I don't want to get in the middle of this flame war, but man, you keep getting this part wrong. The SVS 25-31pci is not the same as the SVS 22-31pci. The 22-31 is tuned to 22hz, therefore making it identical to the PB1, spec wise. The SVS site is comparing the 25-31pci to the PB1. THe 22-31 is only available by special request, which is why it does not have graphs and the likes on their page.

I like the look of the tubes over the box svs subs Plus they are cheaper.
-
"The fact that the 25-31pci is listed as -3db at 25hz and that the pb1 is listed as -3db at 20hz doesn't mean a thing. Neither do the graphs that show the pb1 as being nearly flat to 20hz while the 25-31 drops off by 7db at 20hz. Those don't mean anything either right?" No they don't mean much, considering the SVS pini is talking about is the one tuned to 22hz.

I've heard the Ipod version of the fm tuner. It worked pretty well.
-
The only difference in a front firing vs downfiring sub is the look.

No problem, I respect that. Just trying to get an idea of what they cost. Glad that you got a good deal from a forum member. This place is one of the most trustworthy boards/communities I've ever particpated in. Another question, how does the sound of the KLFs sound compared to high end refernence, say the RF-7s, or Heritage?

Pulled the trigger today! SVS 20-39Plus on its way!!

I own the lowest end SVS, and I still cant fathom how they could possibly improve that much in their higher end models. I'm sure you'll love it... Untill I can hear some real high end subs, I'll live in my blissful bubble of bass -
What price did you get them for? They must sound great for high-end audio listening
-
Remember though, if you get bookshelves you have to invest in some stands. You might end up finding that bookshelves + stands are not far off from what their floorstanding counterparts cost.
-
My SVS drowns out my RB-5ii's on some very bass heavy songs. I have it in the 11 oclock position too. The bass is so clean and strong though, that I almost don't want to turn it down because it sounds so good...
-
Also, about your money issue... if you put a decent amount of money into a sub now, you won't have to worry about it again for a long while (thats if you ever do). Since subs don't necessarily need to "match" the timbre of your setup, they can be used for any setup in the future. If I were in your shoes I'd save up for something a bit nicer, and that way you'd have it for a while to come. Either that or risk getting the "what if..." syndrome.

Useing the highpass inputs/outputs would be the easiest way if your amp does not have an RCA or LFE output.
-
You could wait a little longer, save up some more, and keep your eyes out for a Bstock SVS. If you have patience, that is though.
