  1. Justin: I can't recommend DirecTV enough. I have been with them for about 6 years, & have never had any complaints. The picture is crystal clear, & the prices are better than any cable provider around here. And if you keep your eye out for the specials, you can sometimes get 2 rooms installed with equipment for free with a 1 year contract, which is not a problem, since you will never go back to cable again. Think of it as Cable that never goes out, & never has a bad picture. The only thing I have found better than DirecTV is DTiVo (DirecTV with TiVo built in). Its only an extra $5/month, plus the equipment. But that also gets you an optical output for Dolby Digital.
  2. Corns in any shape will go for way over $350

I almost bought one of them. Keep looking on this forum and on ebay. You'll find yours soon enough. ---------------- This is a very good point. I bid a at least 4 different pairs of Heresys, but lost them each time because I was not willing to pay an average of $400 + shipping, bringing it to over $500. I waited, & within a month, a pair came up local & I got them for $405, plus I got to hear them before I handed over the cash.
  4. My only experience is from a friend, who had his replaced 3 times. the first 2 lasted less than 9 months. On the other hand, Sony was very helpfull & he ended up very happy with it. The current one has been working for over 3 years.
  5. Something else to consider, this is a new seller, with no history. m00n just went through this, but he got lucky that the seller was willing to work with him when he had problems.
  6. After 2 days, I finally got an answer from Steve Phillips at Klipsch Tech Support. He did not give a direct reason for the purchase, but said that Klipsch owners like to use separate amps in their systems. He went on to say how much he loved the sound of Aragon amps over his Denon 3801. He is running Klipschorn mains with a La Scala center.
  7. Probably not on the same idea, but when I was building my center channel using Heresy parts, I dropped an Infinity 12" sub into the empty Heresy cabinet (it started as a joke) & connected it to a 100wpc amp, and we were amazed in how good it worked. I then cut a new back panel & installed a port tube, & all it did was make noise. It now has the original sealed back panel on it & is my permanent sub. I was quoted $250 to have a custom cabinet made for these drivers. If you like to play (like most on this forum do), cut out a new back panel & try a few different port sizes. You will have some fun for sure, & if it does not work out, you still have the original back.
  8. m00n: I hate to say it, but I also thing you have the right idea. I had La Sacala's when I met my wife. When we moved into our first house, they sounded like Cra* in the small room, so we sold them & found some Heresy's. Best thing I ever did, since she hated the Las anyway (too ugly), & the Heresy's sounded GREAT in the little room. Later, when we moved into another (bigger) house, she was re-decorating & had mentioned we needed some new end-tables. So we compromised. I got Belle's to deal with the WAF, and put them where she wanted the end tables. They have been with me since 1984. ...... there will be another time
  9. One thing I always bring is Mannheim Steamroller's Fresh Aire III. It is the most dynamic of any other CD I have, & has just about every kind of sound on it to push speakers to the end, from quiet, symphonic passes, to hard bass, to nature sounds, & there is even a toy piano. Very few speakers re-produce properly under this kind of torture.

  11. I had the same problem when I bought my new Onkyo receiver. I used all of the digital inputs, assuming that the newer DAC would have the best sound. After realizing that I was getting tired of listening, I started to play with the hookups. Turns out, the receiver has the poorest of the 4 DAC's in my system, with the best being my early 90's Adcom CD player. I now use the analog outs of the Adcom for music. Even my Onkyo DVD sounded better when playing a CD from the analog outs.

Part of me says to get something a bit more comfortable. Hmmm, and a new RF7 as a center would sure sound good. ---------------- I was thinking about the comfort thing also. I HATE those theater seats, more than most, since I am very long-legged. I almost refuse to go to a real theater unless they have improved seating. There is just no room for me. ---------------- On 4/24/2003 11:50:06 AM m00n wrote: cyclonecj, that is just crazy about your parents (sister!). Not crazy in a bad way, but I am just astonished at how much profit they can turn, that is just mind blowing ---------------- Whats Crazy about this is when they get a real good find. Once, she bought a levi jacket at a yard sale for $1, & it was kinda dirty. She did a search & found out that any Levi's that have a large "L" in levi are rare, & this jacket had it. It sold overseas for just over $800.
  13. ---------------- I see she's up in Siskiyou County. Agreed: One of the most beautiful places on Earth. I spent a lot of time as a kid in Mt. Shasta. Summer vacations, at my Grandparent's house. Great memories... fini ---------------- FINI: They bought a ranch near a place called "Pastures of Heaven". What more can I say!
  14. ---------------- On 4/24/2003 12:42:27 AM m00n wrote: cyclonecj Does she make a decent profit doing that or does she do it simply for the thrill of it? ---------------- She does real good, But it takes alot of time. Remember, they are retired. She tells me sometimes they go out on a saturday to a yard sale, offer the sellers $100 for the whole yard, load it in the truck & home they go. This keeps them busy for about 3 weeks, & they make over $3000 on the one truck load. Then it takes her another week to stop laughing!
  15. I just went to take look at the adcom website. It shows that it needs a 12v signal, but the front power switch overides it. Adcom Ace-615. Scroll down to page 3
  16. m00n: Look at this one: Quartz939. This is my sisters account. She is retired & has moved up north, & now buys from yard sales & sells on e-bay. She works hard to keep her profile clean, but it is possible to do it. She even emails me when she gets to a new color star!

I just went to the web site & looked at the new ace units. I see that they are now using the 12v trigger. If you dont mind me asking, what are the 615's going for? My 515 was $119 in 92'
  18. I found the old topic, under Home Theater (currently on page 7), titled "Which line conditioner PANAMAX or MONSTER" with a last post of 3/29. In that thread, you will see that I also had a scare with a power surge, & the Adcom Ace-515 saved me. I will never run without it.
  19. Never heard of it, but I would sure like to see some pictures!
  20. Thanks Artto. I will check over there. The reason I posted here was because I am more curious about the sound, in other words, was there a sonic reason for Klipsch to join with them? Has anyone here used or heard them??
  21. I am curious about the connection that Klipsch has to Aragon, since it is on their web site. Does Klipsch own the company? Also, I have never seen any talk about them here. Anyone here used any Aragon stuff? I can't imagine that Klipsch would recommend a 200 or 300 watt amp!
  22. ---------------- On 4/21/2003 10:08:10 PM m00n wrote: I would think that the 10" would have a different sound. ---------------- If I may.... I think that is the point. All 3 RC7's have the exact same sound. Using RF7's might be slightly different.
  23. ---------------- On 4/21/2003 5:04:02 PM TheEAR wrote: I listen to a bit of anything really, mostly electronic music and ... ---------------- I cant believe this one is not here ...I just did a search & it did not come up.... is this the bad search feature everyone is talking about? Anyone here listen to Mannheim Steamroller?
  24. I don't know the internal volume, I just showed the guy the specs for the drivers I was using, & he handed me back a computer printout of the size to make it. Inside measurements are 8-3/4 high X 42 wide X 12 deep, & I am using the heresy crossover with the drivers wired in parallel. I tried to wire it in series, but the horns were the only thing I could hear. Parallel seems to work ok, & my amp has not objected yet. I have to assume (I hate that word!) the crossover is making up the difference. I tried to make the cabinet as close to the original Heresy design to match my rears, but the HBR look was bad on the TV, so I painted it the same black as the TV.
  25. Another thing to include is the access card. If it's a direct system, the access card is not transferable. You will need to get a new one from DTV, at $35. I have been with DTV for 5 years, & would never go back to cable.
