  1. Very sorry for your loss. Praying for the peace that passes all understanding to envelope you.
  2. @Pete H Yowza! That is a LOT of insulation on the floor! It's much more emotional for the wife than I could have ever imagined. I am in HighPoint, almost dead center of the state. 1 1/2 hours from Raleigh and Charlotte.
  3. Yeah its a muddy mess outside for sure. I know we need the rain, but good grief. That fridge is a pain. Ours is a Samsung and the ice maker stopped working a year and a half ago. So being cheap, I tried the youtube video route to fix it, but it is way more complicated than I can do, so we buy bagged ice from sheets since neither of us use much ice, its not worth paying someone to fix it. The wall the CW's are going to be on is 13' wide, so there will be some separation, but probably not as big a room as some others. The wall the couch is on is approximately 16' from the wall that the system is on, so I anticipate angling them some, but shouldn't need to do a sharp angle.
  4. I have never been an EQ guy, but that might have to change. We'll see how it all shakes out in the end. For those interested, since I am in the middle of the state of NC, if/when this all gets finished, I'd love to host a gathering.
  5. My 2 primary concerns going in are how the change in the room size will impact the system sound and secondly, I am not 100% sure, but reasonably sure that the popcorn ceiling provided some sound deadening. Between taking down popcorn ceiling and transitioning from carpet to hardwoods, the amount of hard surfaces has increased exponentially in the listening space. Perhaps more than any other concern is, how the furniture and hopefully the rug that will end up covering much of the living room floor will reduce the impact of all the hard surfaces.
  6. We also upgraded from a 50" Sansung to a Sony 65" XBR65XR900F.
  7. It all sounded good at the time. Take out a wall, move another 2'. I'm thinking the living room/HT room is going to need to produce much more pressure. So, I sell the RF-7's, RC-7, RS-7's, and an SVS 20-39PC Plus in favor of what ended up being some Cornwall 3's, (*EDIT: Was Cornwall 3 "B" Stock until the freight company damaged them. Since the CW 3's were then gone, plan B was the Forte 3's) a home made center from Heresy components, CDT5800 C2's in ceiling speakers and dual SVS SB3000's. In the below pics you get to see how great it all doesn't look. But in my mind it looks fantastic and sounds even better. Man will this ever end?
  8. One of the great things about a forum is, even without specific suggestions answers can appear through questions. ”what Blue Ray player are you using?” @wuzzzer that question caused me to realize the issue is with the blue ray. A Sony UDP XM8002 solves my problem because it has coaxle out and plays multichannel music for $249.00. Since my TiVo has both an optical and a mini audio plug, I can run it into the Rotel and so for $249 problem is solved. Thanks guys.
  9. Currently the way my HT is set up is, I am running the HDMI from my Blue Ray and Tivo to the TV and running the optical out from the TV to the Rotel Pre-Amp. The reason why is because the RSP-1066 Rotel Pre-Amp was pre-HDMI. I know this causes less surround sound for movies and music and I am hopeful someone can suggest another/better way. My Blue Ray does not have audio out, while the Tivo unit probably does. So, how can I maximize this without just ditching the pre-amp and starting over. I assume that there is some way to bring a HDMI into a box and have it come out too audio and video cables, but my TV does not have much in the way of video inputs outside of HDMI... gotta love trying to mix new and old tech. As I write this I am thinking I am just stuck until I am able to get a newer pre-amp. If it matters, my Blue-ray doubles as my CD player, which runs to the TV, or I have a Denon 2930 for multichannel music that I use for SACD and can use as a CD player running directly to the pre-amp.
  10. Some guys on here will know infinitely more than me in this area, but what little bit of research I have done, the Schiit Dacs are good bang for the buck: https://www.schiit.com/products The Modi 3 for $99 is the entry level, which I am considering and have heard good things about, and they go north from there to $2399. Johnny Darko's beginners guid to Dac's was helpful I think:
  11. Try using this search engine if you aren't already: www.searchtempest.com Someone on here pointed me to it and it really helps cut down on the manual searching. Good luck with those KLF's I ran a search with a 500 mile radius from my zip code and got a couple of tweeters and a crossover.
  12. I feel sure it is, I do recall reading that. But the new number caught my eye and caused me to raise the question. I like the fox there.. I may have to adopt him, I think we may be related. =^..^=
  13. What is interesting isn’t just the actual weight, it is the information being published. Generally PDF’s hold the information well. The idea that he weight of the 4 on the brochure is the result of an internet glitch is remote.though possible. The more likely explanation is the speaker weight is 73lbs, which doesn’t seem to make sense for a variety of reasons including the fact that it represents a change to a product shortly after its release.
  14. He screenshoted the PDF showing 100lbs. I had seen that figure before, but was comparing some other specs and saw the 73 and was caught off guard.
  15. PDF off the website Cornwall-2019-Spec-Sheet-v02-1.pdf
  16. So, a really odd thing has come up. I have seen a PDF of a Cornwall iv showing the weight of the speaker at 100lbs. But tonight I compared the specs of a CW3 to the specs of a CW4 and pulled the PDF off of the Klipsch.com website for the 4's and it says 73lbs? The 3's show a weight of 98lbs. What in the world? Here is a screen grab of the CW4 specs, I'll see if this site will allow me to attach the PDF. Any thoughts on this?
  17. IF this was covered in this thread or elsewhere, I missed it. I tried to read the whole thing. I couldn't help but notice that there is a 25lb swing in the weight from the 3 to the 4. That is a pretty significant difference. Does anyone know why the 4 is so much lighter than the 3? I would have guessed the opposite.
  18. Transitioning to Heritage?!?! Sharp looking, I hope you sell them quickly.
  19. Thank you. Getting old is for the birds. Yes, 12". So you favor rear port over passive. 10-4. That opens some other questions naturally such as size and number of ports. My RF-7's had rear dual ports that looked to be around 3" maybe 4" ports. Something in that vein then?
  20. I have a technical question and I appreciate any thoughts people may have. Forgive me for the length here, but long story short, my wife hates the tallness of the Heresy as a center channel standing up or laying on its side. The exterior volume (bare with me I realize it is needs to be based on the interior volume, but for the sake of the argument hear me out) is approximately 4415.5" of that speaker. Q1: If I made a cabinet with slightly more volume (4680), using the same components (meaning the interior volumes would be similarly different), but that is more aesthetically acceptable to her (13" H x 15" D x 24" W), I am assuming I would have similar performance qualities. Is this a fair statement? I could make it 12" and loose just a bit of volume 4320" if the extra inch is a deal breaker for her. Q2: Assuming the above is true(ish), but want to increase the depth of the bass, would adding a 10" passive radiator provide lower bass or just more of what I already get from the 8" driver by itself? Q3: Would the brand of passive radiator make an impact since it does not involve magnets etc.? IE: Parts express has a 10" Dayton Audio for $26.98. If it is more of the same, I'd rather not spend money on more electronics like new crossovers. I am looking for an ultra-low-budget modification hence the reason for using the same components.
  21. Well, Thursday I set out on a 16.5-hour journey driving roughly 750-800 miles, which netted two pairs of Heresy 1's and a pair of Cornwall 1's. That is a LONG story, but I met some fellow Klipsch lovers who are great guys with wonderful gear. The bottom line is, the Heresy as a center channel is night and day compared to the RC-7 when paired with the Forte 2's. We watched Mama Mia 2 last night, the music from the center had much more bass to me, but the vocals were just sweet-sounding to my ears. I hope to listen to some more stuff today, but I am a happy camper. That is the good. The bad is, I will have to re-create a smaller version of the Heresy from the components of one of them because the wife absolutely hates the size of them as a center. So, the project continues. It is all good though because the sound is a perfect match. I will have to ease into the Cornwall's because they need updating and let's face it, they are monstrously big. I need her to wrap her mind around how big they are and help her adjust to the idea. Thanks everyone, especially Vince and @flatgrass.
  22. I am in High Point, about an hour and a half, but this center is sold. Sorry. That said, I'd like to have a NC gathering sometime maybe as someones home so they can show off their toys.
  23. Yes, I tried to glue it, but needed to hold it longer than my time allowed. You have mail by the way.
