  1. From the brochure with K-Horns and a Cornwall middle in front of it looks like sliding doors: Page 10 RECOMMENDED ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT: "...This makes it imperative that equipment of the highest quality be used. Freedom from distortion and actual power output (undistorted) at 30 hz is more important than published power rating..." Page 11: ACOUSTIC DATA: "..available acoustic power from qualified 10 watt amplifier is over three watts..." Speaking of efficiency. The Bass Driver is not mentioned, Mid is K-400, Tweeter is K-77 hinting the tweeter will have an upper limit of 19 KHZ. While noting what Bob Posted, what was not specified in the large brochure - a minimum power rating it is confusing. Another Brochure I have also does not give a minimum, but does give a maximum. It would seem that that the technical writers chose 20 watts. The Brook was not twenty watts. Thus it depends on the brochure - one can see where the three watt figure comes from - put in ten watts get out three. So in the end if the listener is happy with the sound, the output, the quality and they own the equipment, does it have an effect on what we use, if satisfied, no, will it cause us to change of our own free will, that depends on taste, can it hurt our equipment? That depends, if it sounds better, it could embarass us, does it cost us anything, electricity to run our computers. Then There is the specification data Bob was kind enough to Post.
  2. edit: no difference, no matter what
  3. Greetings: Dan - I understand your point, that's why I used all of the terminology that I did to try to prevent.. With Silversport's good take on it, Thebes, and Mike Stehr, Plus yours and my thoughts, we hopefully will.

Why didn't you mention speaker wire and IC's and really get the flames going. Danny ---------------- Apologies were already extended for Posting an observation noted in an email. Knowing EdwinR, this was not to start a debate, argument, disagreement, irritation, flame, debate over technology, etc.. It was a simple thought put into a Post.
  5. Due to allergies, I have someone else cut the lawn. But, I do have Chemlawn and in between I spray the lawn, rosebushes other flowers with Miracle Gro. The combination keeps it nice and green while keeping out the crab grass and other weeds. I have found that using an electric lawnmower (whoever does it) seems to be easier on the allergies and asthma.

Bill ---------------- Oh, I like my McIntosh Tube, SS, NAD, Technics Class A. I'm just a believer of you pay for it, I have no right to tell you what to do - no attack dog mentality. I also guess that what makes a person happy is what is meant for them.. Not a cram down your throat or if I have not seen it there's no way it could have happened. No disagreements in our thinking.

  8. bsaFirebird1969 not only has the sound down, but also gives the best advice you you could get, audition them yourself. We all have our bias, hearing curves, budgets and thoughts as to what home speakers should be. We can help a lot with advice with regards to fine tuning your room, service records that we may know. But you know what equipment you are using with the potential speakers and will know what sound you like, or find more pleasing. The suggestion of Westlake as one more to consider is also good.
  9. Mine would make it a point to see any movie I stated I wanted to see with her family or on the girl's night out. Never bothered me to go alone.

Cornwalls ROCK! plus two LaScalas in the garage just for kicks! no swmbo here Michael ---------------- Michael is correct, to me there is no alternative to the large. As I listen to music, I find no need for a sub with four Cornwall IIs and a pair of Heresys. I compromised from four LaScalas to the Cornwall IIs with no regrets. However, as I owned a majority of my Equipment prior to being married, the Equipment will stay. I had no problems with sewing machines, sergers, other seamstress equipment and would never even ask a compromise, this has been my profession, my love, my hobby, a point of being able to pass on some knowledge. I have already compromised once.

My apologies in advance for offending those that may be offended. ---------------- Hi Edwin: It is unfortunate that on an open Forum with each noting opinion(s) that an apology is felt necessary. There is ample room for SET, PP, Tri-Path to make an obeservation without feeling the need to change other people's tastes or type of unit that they own. This is the only area that I see as being a point that PC does make any sense. Thank you for sharing without attempting a converting. But then, you understand the differences in taste and taking people's feelings into account. Win dodger

How many hours do you sleep? Do you do the cooking? Don't walk while carrying a knife. Like a kid in a candy store. Nice to see that you're having fun.

  14. Another factor is padding. That will take up space. To answer Marvel, I've seen the new ones in the commercials with the stow and go seats that fit flush to the floor. Securing in addition to padding will take up a little extra room. Will there be a passenger?
  15. At the least they could negotiate a longer payment term or if interest rates are a problem, negotiate them. With regards to closing percent off, one store here would put higher original prices each time they raised the percent off. Then you have someone like Captain Bob that wants to listen, never knowing if it's a sale, but can't find a sales person. That helps the cash intake.
  16. In checking the PD-4V specs, there is a difference against the PD-5VH. In further checking I have been told that the efficiency is the same as the PD-5V. I have found that to be the case. It has been said that the PD-4V is not an Alnico magnet. A screwdriver test, a light light screw, plus the makers support the Alnico vs ceramic.

I agree that speakers and amps are a complex loads both ways, and some combinations are better than others. This is why I have SS, autoformer and direct coupled, and tube. Each system has its own distinct sound and I enjoy them all. One of my favorites was a pair of Heresys with a MC240, a near perfect match..... ----------------
  19. UH, I was there when you went to get them. Tell your brother they were gone. I bought them, I bought for somebody, they weren't there, I was there I didn't see them. The guy in the white car was just loading them. I have a pair you can buy they look a lot like them but they're a different shade of black. Compensate, let your brother have your speakers because you feel so bad.
