  1. How about the $1,000,000 Grand Cinema? ------------------ -justin SoundWise promediatech@Klipsch.com /1-888-554-5665 - RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5s> Email Me

Question Whats the difference between Pro Logic, Pro Logic II, and Dolby Digital 5.1? Answer Dolby Pro Logic is a matrix decoder that decodes the four channels of surround sound that have been encoded onto the stereo soundtracks of Dolby Surround program material such as VHS movies and TV shows. Dolby Surround is a matrix encoding process that in essence folds Left, Center, Right, and Surround channels onto stereo soundtracks. A Pro Logic decoder unfolds the four channels on playback (without a Pro Logic decoder, the encoded program plays in regular stereo). Dolby Pro Logic II is an advanced matrix decoder that derives five-channel surround (Left, Center, Right, Left Surround, and Right Surround) from any stereo program material, whether or not it has been specifically Dolby Surround encoded. On encoded material such as movie soundtracks, the sound is more like Dolby Digital 5.1 (see below), while on unencoded stereo material such as music CDs the effect is a wider, more involving soundfield. Among other improvements over Pro Logic, Pro Logic II provides two full-range surround channels, as opposed to Pro Logics single, limited-bandwidth surround channel. Dolby Digital 5.1 is a method of transmitting and storing 5.1-channel soundtracks via newer digital media such as DVD, digital cable, digital broadcast TV (DTV), and satellite transmissions. Unlike the Dolby Surround encode/Pro Logic decode process, which sacrifices channel separation to get surround onto any stereo soundtrack, Dolby Digital 5.1 is a discrete system that keeps the multiple channels fully separated throughout the encoding and decoding processes. In addition to having full-range Left, Center, Right, Left Surround, and Right Surround channels, Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtracks carry a sixth (.1) channel recorded with low-frequency effects (those bass rumbles and booms you feel as well as hear in a well-equipped cinema). ------------------ -justin SoundWise promediatech@Klipsch.com /1-888-554-5665 - RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5s> Email Me

  4. the auction has been moved... it did not sell first time around. imagine that http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1369197076 KLIPSCH JUBILEE BASS CINEMA SPEAKER KLIPSCH KPT 684 SUBWOOFER BOTH SPEAKERS BRAND NEW NEVER USED! TWO ULTIMATE SPEAKERS ONE PRICE Never been used my @$$. "This is commercial audio equipment which was purchased at auction." how often do companies buy expensize speaker systems, remove the top half of the system, leave them in the original shipment box and then auction them off for less than what they probably bought them for? then how often would the seller unpack the speaker, get enough information on them to know that half the speaker is missing, and plan on getting over $4000 for a speakre that has probably been used, despite what they say (how could they know if the previous owner used them)? I bet a theater bought them, used them for some period of time. Went bankrupt (so many out here have...) and sold off the equiptment for whatever they could get. This guy bought it from them, but did not know it was a two part system and then found out it was, advertised the MSRP as if the top was there, w/o ever noting half was missing, and wanted to get some quick money. It did not work the first time, so as an added bonus, you get an, also 'unused', KPT 684. And that is where it gets better. The KPT 648's they are advertising have a few things I noticed off hand that don't match up to the Klipsch KPT 648 that I have seen. 1. The Klipsch Professional logo is missing 2. The woofers are blue, not black 3. The metal clamps around the woofer are not black Now, this could all be innocent or even honest truth. That woofer could be just a different year and things changed. I don't really know. Just wanted to try out my attorny skills at attacking the 'witness' to prove that she did kill her brothers wife's lover, the night the lights went out in Georgia. With my luck, the judge has blood on his hands and my accusations will have hung an innocent man... ------------------ -justin A technical help site created by me and my fellow Klipschers promediatech@Klipsch.com /1-888-554-5665 - RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5 s>

Sure It's called http://www.klipsch.com then click on the products link, choose home audio, then the reference series. You can find pics there. Actually, I will but I have to get a scsi card for my PC. I need to get my scanner up and running first. I don't have a digital camera. However, here is a classic example of pissing your money away. My lovely wife got a wild hair up her a$$ once and bought a $800.00 digital video camera. It can take still shots. Anyway, to go along with that camera she bought a $900.00 capture card for it that plugs into one of our PCs. Now let me ask you, do you think she has got this up and runing? Heh NOPE! And she gets pissy when I talk about my speakers. WHAT EVA. Along with pics of my system, I want to post some pics of the two rooms I am trying to decide between for creating a dedicated cinema room. ------------------ the m00n system FRONTS: RF-7 CENTER: RC-7 SURROUNDS: RS-7 SUB: RSW-12 RECEIVER: Harman Kardon AVR 520 DVD: Toshiba SD 3205 (DD, DTS) TV: Samsung 27" Flatscreen COMPUTER: ProMedia 4.1 c>Microsoft XBOXc> f>

  10. quote: Originally posted by boa12: hey justin is that that mrs. robinson who u were helpin out w/ the sys design? which subs are they (& the rest of the sys for that matter)? thanks. yes, that was haha i honestly can't say right now, they have not come in yet. she ran 12 guage wire in the walls for up to 12 surround speakers (just in case) and i am thinking about getter her some bass shakers.. do you suggest that? i decided, with the advice of you guys here, to step out of her way and let a pro take over. she got a guy from some cinema company to design everything. it is still in the works (had a small fire during the process... kinda slowed things down a tad). as of right now she has done some serious lighting in the room. black lights that are hidden in eaves, fiber optic star field above the viewers (inspired by a ht i saw from this guy in europes webpage that was linked to from here ), lasers that draw things that you put in the computer to draw (primitive to the ones at new years haha) and of course, a big glittering ball in the center (comes down for movies, there for dancing). on teh walls we are thinking of putting drapes all the way around with 2 inch bumps constantly... like using a 10 foot stream of fabric for a 6 foot wall, to help keep the sound from echo'ing and help the sound proofing (behind the drapery is egg crate and then doubled sheet rock). the screen is 16x9 (feet!). we are still debating on the projecter and there are still like two of everything that we have to choose one or the other. everything sounds amazing, too hard to choose which! LOL! right now i don't know what sub she is getting, but i think a SVS in each corner would be nice when this is finished, i for sure will take pics especially of the control room, it is looking quite nice as it is (though the computer system, lighting control and rack were destroyed in the electical fire ) yeah, it will be great once it is finished... but it is taking a while. ------------------ -justin ProMedia 5.1 Tech Help I am an amateur, if it is professional; ProMedia help you want email Amy or call her @ 1-888-554-5665 or for an RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5 Klipsch Home Audio help you want, email support@klipsch.com or call @ 1-800-KLIPSCH RA# Fax Number=317-860-9140 / Parts Department Fax Number=317-860-9150s>

  13. Well, it is not that easy. First youmust ask yourself... how much is REAL surround sound worth...? Well, if you think that it is worth around $99-125, theni can give you a simple solution, the $125 is a REALLY simple solution Ok, you would use the digital (optical or coax) audio output from the XBOX to the Audio Tornado. it costs $99 and has a remote control and decodes Dolby Digital. But, hooking a TV up to it is not so easy. It all depends on if your TV has audio output. For $125, you can get the Sherwood RVD-6090R Stereo Receiver. 15. actually, music is an integral part of my listening. its absolutely a MUST that whatever speaker system i get will give me a good musical experience. Movies and games are almost an afterthought cause although i play a lot of games and watch the odd movie or too on my computer, i still give musical performance at the top priority list. dougdrake2, a synergy system would cost almost double compared to the price of the paradigm system i'm getting. these are the lowest prices that i have found so far among the local retailers here in toronto Paradigm Cinema Series w/ pdr-10 sub = $925 Harman Kardon AVR-220 = $750 B&W series 300 with aws-1000 sub = $1905 Denon 1802 = $800 Onkyo 595 = $900 Videologic Digitheatre DTS = $950 and of course 15% tax is added to each of the prices.

I'm not going to stoop down to your level and call you names nor say you are stupid. Please try to read more carfully next time. What i made clear was for a price of the klipsch pros, which come with 4 sats a sub and amp , cables. The cinema series are way over the price of the pros. You are also saying that most people have and amp sitting next to their pc. ( nice assumption) also I say this in my original message: "if you wanna look for a company to bash, why dont you go over to the Bose forums or something.... they at least have a reason to get flamed for, not klipsch." Please do give me a link to every single magazine that said this. I have some serious reading up to do. No offence paradigm worker, but seems to me like you are in denial. *paradigms mind* ( no no ! it cant be!!! its impossible for there to be speakers better than my paradigms! oh my god!!! ahhhh) Thats all i see going on. Hey Paradigm, as your name implies, you try and promote this company because mainly they are WAY better than the Klipsch's 4.1/4.2 and their new upcoming 5.1s, but realistically, these Cinema Series from Paradigm are just way too expensive for PC systems. How much do the Cinema Series go for here in the U.S.? 700? 800? not including the shipping either!! And also you will need to buy a receiver right? Doesn't seem like the Cinema Series have built-in amplifiers to power the satellites (the subwoofer however seems to have a 90-watt amp). So how much do receivers go for? 200 for decent receivers, but why buy the cheap ones!!! 300? 400? And do you these Cinema Series come with speaker cables? If they do, most factory cables are not as good in terms of quality versus the "better" aftermarket cables out there. So let alone, there is another 100 dollars. By this time, my dime-sized holes in my pockets became exponentially bigger (hence, my pants have fallen off). Total cost for the Paradigm's Cinema series : WAY more than the Klipsch's new 5.1s. So if you want the WAY more performance and money is not an object, then by all means, go for the Paradigm's. But if you're like me and most of the people who simply can't afford Paradigm's then Klipsch's speakers arent as bad as you think. Although I do in fact believe Paradigms are better, they are also more expensive than the Klipsch PC speakers sets. LET ME KNOW if there are cheaper Paradigm sets, yet have similar or better sound performance than the Klipschs (5.1 preferred). As of now, I own the v.2-400 and thinking about buying the new 5.1 from Klipsch. PARADIGM CINEMA SERIES werent design for PCs!!
  19. quote: Paradigm, in one of your first posts you said you could get the paradigms for 800 can. In the link it said they were just over 700 american. Do you know anywhere you can get them that cheap? SIMPLE ANSWER = CANADA Paradigm is a Canadian company therefore there speakers are something like 35% cheaper here. The paradigm cinema series goes for $799 american, in Canada they are $899 candian
  20. quote: so you like to cut and paste from gamersdepot.com First off if you are implying that i cut and pasted this as my own work, then you have got it all wrong. Second i was so excited that i forgot to post the url quote: Anyway I wouldn't be too exicted I only have had the 4.1 for maybe 3 month and already their is a better one Your right they are called the PARADIGM cinema series. They will put the Klipsch quintets to utter shame and even cost $400 less. SO instead of me paying 600 hundred canadian for the new 5.1 klipsch, i can get the PARADIGM cinema series for 800 hundred Canadian which out perform $1800 hundred dollar($can) satellite systems. Here is a link, the only one i have off hand right now http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/SoundAndVision/FrameSet/TestReports/Paradigm1227/paradigmp01.html I Think the 5.1 come to a price point which just really arn't worth it anymore. None the less I am very happy to see klipsch finally release a 5.1 system. So where are the damn pics?????? This message has been edited by P_a_r_a_d_i_g_m on 05-23-2001 at 02:44 AM
