Daniel H
I would like to get a good 5 chnl amp and a pre/ pro. What I have know is just ok. I have a Onkyo tx-sr700, front sp are klf 20, center klf c7, rear klf 10, velodyne 12/10 sub. I was looking at a Rotel rmb 1075 amp is this a good amp and will it have enough power to run my klfs. tommyboy
First off, welcome to the forums! Secondly, yes, the ROTEL will power your speakers just fine. Emotiva is another popular choice around here.....
jamesV
Welcome, Like TB stated the Rotel will have enough power. It all depends on how loud you listen to your system. Also how much are you looking to spend for both the pre and amp? Are you looking to buy new or willing to buy use? James
Daniel H
Thanks for the welcome, I like it clean and crisp and a high medium on loud. I dont mind buying used, the rotel amp is used for 600 and he sayes it four months old. I would rather use a biger amp to power my klipsch so I dont have to use so much volume. Any suggestions on a pre, and whats the diff between balanced and unbalaced conections.
tommyboy
I'm using my receiver as a pre/pro for now. It sounds great! But I'll more than likely make the move to ROTEL later on down the road. I would recommend looking on Audiogon for a nice used ROTEL......
bhenry
I looked at Rotel and didn't much care for the sound- kind of weak, and then discovered that it is made in China and that was that. I ran in to a B&K dealer (they are kind of rare) and was sold almost instantly. They are built like tanks and sound awesome, and Made In The USA!! rcarlton
I used a Rotel with my K-horns for awhile.
winchester21
Rotel Emotiva B&K Carver H K - also used macs - Any of these will do what you want. All good.
jamesV
whats the diff between balanced and unbalaced conections. First off they use different wires. Unbalanced uses a single RCA cable and balanced uses XLR cable. I think some have said that it depends on cable length but I could be wrong. Any suggestions on a pre Sorry I just seen that your Onkyo TX-SR700 does have pre-outs, so you can just get an amp. Remember if you do use your receiver then you should be happy with your current "sound". Meaning that Onkyo has a certain sound to them and the external amp is just going to magnify that sound. But since you are currently happy and just want more power then you will be fine. What is your price range? James
