artto
Thanks to Thump for starting this thread! As far as playing music goes, I'm primarily a bass player, although I played guitar for years before I had a bass.I wasn't sure what to start with so I decided to start with one of my better "finds", a guitar. I found this 69 Fender "Thinline" Telecaster at a yard sale $100 w/hard shell case ~ also about to fall apart). It was really dirty and beat up. It has a mahogany semi-hollow body with maple neck. The original pickups had been changed and were pretty much shot. I replaced them with Seymour Duncan vintage Tele pickups, disassembled everything, including the tuners, cleaned and reconditioned, and recrowned the frets. It plays pretty good now and certainly sounds a lot better. About a year after I acquired this, Fender came out with their first re-issue of it. Professor Thump
Wow!!! YOU STOLE THAT GUITAR FOR $100!!! Is that a walnut body? I remember when they did a walnut body in the 70's. I guess I could look it up in my vintage guitar blue book.

Nice warm full-bodied "chunky" sound with the new pickups and heavy gauge round wounds (I don't remember exactly, probably Ernie Ball Slinky) Yes Sir Thumper ~ one hundred ontoes [Y]
