Coytee
I went out to my shop a moment ago and got out my nifty digital calipers and began the process of measuring my nuts and thus far, the results are rather inconclusive My condolences..... Rich_Guy
Do you need to be born outside the United States to have metric nuts? [^o)] [*-)]
Groomlakearea51
I'm sure undocumented aliens would take offense at that insinuation!!! [H]
Coytee
Do you need to be born outside the United States to have metric nuts? No, it's not required however, it has been demonstrated that those born outside the USA have an inherent advantage because the conversion process to metric can be quite painful... [*-)] I'm still lamenting on Toms behalf...

Islander
Anybody seen those chrome "truck nuts" swinging from a trailer hitch yet? I've only seen one pair so far, but I'm told some girl pickup drivers have pink ones swinging on their hitches.
Tom Adams
Not wanting to take any chances with my reply being less than scientific (like some of the childish responses so far)....... I went out to my shop a moment ago and got out my nifty digital calipers and began the process of measuring my nuts and thus far, the results are rather inconclusive. Measuring across the flats give different readings based upon which "flat" side I measured from. I also had some difficulty in getting accurate readings due to the cold temperatures causing some shrinkage. I'm heading back outside to measure diameter. More in a moment...... Tom ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!! This is getting ridiculous. I'm just about to give up. I try measuring two nuts, right? And for whatever reason, after I measured the first nut, the second one uh.....disappeared (for lack of a better word). So after the second one decides to show up, I measure it and think WTH!!!! How can two nuts come from the same container and be different sizes??? Unnnnnbelieveable. Tom
Islander
The outside measurements of the nuts are not that important. What matters is that the thread matches that of the bolt the nut will be attached to. You'd be better off measuring the bolt thread's major and minor diameter, along with its pitch. Those useful little thread gauges are cheap and take up very little space in your toolbox.
