quadklipsh
ok , i shifted my system the other night up in my living room . and after finishing up with the setup, sat down on the couch in front and had a listen ...after listening the whole hour ,my ears were sore .... something wasnt right ,something was missing all the way .....its the bass ... i could hear improved sound with the admission of my new amplifer diatone PA-A7.things were clearer , and crispier. but .... more than any other amp i could feel the basslessness ,so much more this time around that i felt like returning the damn gear . here is what i did to improve my perception, played with the tonal controls .................................no use! played with better recordings ........not much fun !! placement of speakers and the seat ......................well the bass did sound nice in my 4x4 feet computer chamber ,that extends out to one side of this damn dead room !! but i cannot be sitting here to get bass and lose all that imaging , as then the speakers would be perpendicular to me . i donot want / use a sub woofer .. neither do i prefer that kindda oomph . i just want neat and clean bass without a sub , using just my poor RF3s .. plz advise
CECAA850
You're certain that the speakers aren't wired out of phase?
jacksonbart
First try it back in the old set up with the new amp. Assuming its the room and things aren't out of phase and you can't move the speakers closer to the corners, fixing a room can be the most expensive/least desirable for WAF for a solution, seriously can you move the system back. Also might be good to post the layout of the room. You should see if you can get some of Dr. Who's help since I don't think anyone would understand MAS nor does that dude hang out here anymore. BigCliff
I too believe it might be the amp. You can get a good equalizer, that should help. I good subwoofer set up properly does not give too much UMPH! If a sub is set up properly you do not even notice it's presence unless you were to shut it off. Most subs that sound UMPHY are either cheap or set up with the volume too high. Good luck hope you get it worked out.

wuzzzer
What are the dimensions of the room? Where are you sitting in the room?
LarryC
how do i post pictures ??? There used to be a pinned thread on this, but I can't find it.One way I post pics is to simply copy the (jpeg) pic to the clipboard and paste it into your reply box. You can have more than one in a post that way. The more standard way is to do the following: Click "Options" in the tabs above the quote box' Click "Add/Update" Click "Browse" in the Update box Find the pic file on your computer, and click "Open" -- the filename appears in the browse window SCROLL OVER ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT in the Update box, and click "Save" Click the COMPOSE tab at the top -- DO NOT click your back arrow or you'll have to start over Eventually click "Post" and the pic should show up in your new (or newly edited) post. You can post only one pic per post with this method. Hope that helps -- Larry
oldtimer
Maybe that little computer room is acting like a bass trap. Can you close it off?

quadklipsh
basstrap, you mean it is sucking up all the useable bass ? well obviously the rear port of the right channel speaker is blowing its air into the computer cabinet /table . and makes it more fuller sounding than in the living room itself [:'(] sorry cant close it off . sorry jackson bart , i have headfones .but i want bass on the couch . lemmi get you guys some pictures ...hold on ... quadklipsh
okay iv switched the pre amplifier , to quad 33 , the tonal differences apart , the bass responce HAS NOT improved !! especally the lows of 40 to 60 hz, which everyone enjoys ,are almost in existant . the 60 to 80 frequencies are kindda bumped up very high in this room .overall, the sound isnt engaging as much as it had been in the smaller room . i have also tried the speakers to throw diagonally ... but not much difference . there are no standing waves . . . . . it comes to me as the room is over bright . its not the speakers , its not the amp , its not the recordings . is it possible that im used to very rumbly sounds of the bedroom and now they are gone , and i am left with this thin sound . all i can do now is change the speakers and see if my kenwoods can throw better lows or not ? LarryC
just as i press compose button , the message box still remains empty , no picture comes . the picture that i have chosen wouldnt show up , than i press post and all in vain it goes The pic doesn't show until you post, but I do believe you have to enter some text before you post. But does it still not post even when you go through all the steps? Does it "take," i.e., does the file name of the pic show up in the box before you post? (I believe it also disappears from the "browse" box at the same time.) If so, the file may be too big. You can't always load a really big 1.5-mb pic as some seem to do. It should be reduced to about 75-200 kb first (I use Photoshop Elements).
