MechMan
In a 90% 2 channel environment, how would a pair of KHorns compare 'out of the corners' to a pair of Cornscalas. Just throwing this out there.
Coytee
Since the Khorn bass drops pretty quick as it's removed from a corner, I'd speculate the Cornscala or LaScala...or even Heresy would sound better/fuller?
jdm56
You'd definitely need to put wings on the k-horns (false corners). Then I'd bet on the k-horns sounding best.
Moderators dtel Posted May 27, 2011 Moderators Share Posted May 27, 2011 It's a different kind of bass to me, if you like the Khorn bass do what JDM said, if you like the more direct cornwall bass do that. I would like to hear the two together before I could decide, being a different style it makes it tough.
tromprof
You'd definitely need to put wings on the k-horns (false corners).. Yep. K-horns sound kind of dumb out in a room. When I bought mine they were standing in the middle of the garage of the little old lady who was selling them. When I hooked them up to the amp I brought they sounded like an AM radio, but once home and in in the corners the magic began.

One heckuva BIG AM radio![H]
MechMan
I guess I should try to get a listen to at least a LaScala to hear the horn loaded woofer goodness before I go any further.
jwilson55
These guys have given good advise. I bought a set of Khorns back in Feb. They were also in the middle of the floor. You just have to hear for yourself. They come alive once they are placed in the corners.

Or, the best of the all, the Jubilee. I've had them all, at the same time, in the same room, including the CornScala with BEC-made crossover, Pyle horn, and BEC tweeter. Jubilee best. colterphoto1
as Khorns move out of corners, strangely they don't lose low bass first, what goes is a hole around 300hz, can't really live with that...
Cornman
Rick, I lusted for K-horms for decades. finally got a pair last month, knowing that I had room issues (no good corners) but had to try them anyway. Even built very good backs for them. Bottom line I could not live with them the sound was just to unbalanced. Hope this helps. Good luck, Cornman
MechMan
Well then...I guess that settles it. Time to keep my eyes peeled for a set of LaScala's, Or maybe try my hand at a home made bass bin project and use my cornwall tops. Thanks for all the input.
