Islander
There is not much difference, if any, in sound between LS1s and Belles. Since the K400 was likely designed in the Fifties or early Sixties, while the Belle came out in 1973, the K500 might even be a later and better design. As mentioned by another poster, it would also be possible to fit K400 or K401 horns to Belles, if you had room to have it sticking out the back. The Belles are much better looking. PWK built them because his first wife, Belle, was unhappy with the look of the La Scala between his Khorns. It may have been one of the first recorded cases of WAF driving speaker style. The modern La Scala IIs are made in the style of the Belles, and they look great together.
SonicSeeker
It may have been one of the first recorded cases of WAF driving speaker style. But most certainly not the last! Thank you to everyone for the quick info, once again the forum helped me make up my mind and I just took the plunge and bought some rosewood Belle's. Islander
Wow! Those are really beautiful. Congrats, and happy listening! [Y] However, that looks like a more exotic wood than rosewood, which is usually a dark red colour, with little visible grain. Is someone else familiar with the rosewood that Klipsch used for speakers?
