Schu
has anyone ever had dealings with upscale audio? thinking about some tubes from them.
oscarsear
Yes, I have had prior business with Upscale. The owner happens to have been a HS classmate of my 2nd wife FWIW. Anyway - long story short: Upscale reintroduced me to tube amps and I rolled a lot of tubes through them............ and now I will only use solid state devices. Some say my tube experience was bad luck. Regardless I got to where I was afraid to fire up the stuff and see what tubes mightn't survive. Upscale is just that - UPSCALE. Somewhat arrogant, impersonal and presumptuous. You either have enough $$$$$ to play in their yard or, too bad - so sad, for you. They prefer customers who do not have to ask about the prices and will blithely accept all peculiar friability of their purchases. Ask around the forums........ you should be able to find a more personable tube supplier IMHO.
Sprinter1104
I bought a preamp from them with no problem. They do seem to be quite impressed with themselves though. Brent Jessee is an excellent choice for audio tubes. He's knowledgeable, trustworthy and guaranties his tubes. Schu
Thanks... upscale seems to have access to some nos telefunken tubes I am looking at. I'd rather save money and I would also rather work with good people instead of presumptuous people.

tigerwoodKhorns
I used tube depot too they were good to deal with. Kevin Deal steered me to Musical Fidelity A308 gear "for those that like tubes but want the ease of SS." I never looked back, so I owe him that. I bought some stuff from Upscale for the tubed Marantz CD player way back when (AH! brand). He was good to deal with but I an not much concerned about impressing a dealer (showing them that I can afford more expensive gear), seems they should be trying to impress me.
