dewthedru
Hmmm...have a bit of hum but I'm feeling too lazy to chase it down right now.
babadono
Cleanbox boosts the gain between devices. It's sorta like a phono preamp. Yes sir it is an amplifier. It converts consumer level to pro level and vice versa. What I don't get is I thought the OP said he was getting plenty of signal without it. But I'm glad his problem is solved. And yes Carl is right again.
dewthedru
I thought I was but then again, I'm at absolute noob when it comes to this stuff.
Superdave
This is a good thread to read. The OP kept his cool and others helped out. I have also read that other folks have had this same issue when introducing different levels of equipment and the signal was considered to weak.
dewthedru
in case anyone is curious, i fixed the loud humming. i reversed the amp cord by cutting the tab off an extension cord. now the amp isn't grounded? is that bad?
CECAA850
Removing the ground fixed the hum, not reversing the cord. You might try a ground loop isolator and put the ground back on. I've used a cheater plug for years but don't recommend it as I'd hate for something bad to happen to someone based on my advice.
