fini
Kenratboy- I didn't say that using the fan after turning the lamp off was the same as not using the fan after turning the lamp off...it's worse. Here's a link to a discussion on the topic: http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=000zE7 fini p.s. Isn't it cute that I used a lamp as a message icon? I hope Doug notices... Audio Flynn
My 14 year old son is dyslexic but with an IQ over 140 verbally tested. He is very good at phoenetic spelling. The English language is a mess when the rules of phonics are applied. Example "World War Two" Correct phoenetic spelling "Werld Wore Too" I spelled better in the 6 th grade when the nuns were whacking me with a ruler twicw daily. Ray Garrison
I think any language that does this: bough - ough sounds like the "ow" in "wow" through - ough sounds like "oo" in "zoo" enough - ough sounds like "uff" in "tuff" is a veriseriously deranged language. Speling iz wun ov the most difikult things to lern. Clipped and Shorn
like G.B. Shaw spelling Fish; "Ghoti" Here is another alternative spelling of potato: If GH stands for P as in Hiccough If OUGH stands for O as in Dough If PHTH stands for T as in Phthisis If EIGH stands for A as in Neighbour If TTE stands for T as in Gazette If EAU stands for O as in Plateau then POTATO could be spelled: GHOUGHPHTHEIGHTTEEAU G. Bernard Shaw in a London Times article on the need for spelling reform argued that the illogical English spelling system allowed this alternative spelling of FISH GHOTI spells fish + + English simply has too many orthographic options. -C&S ------------------ Cornwalls currently upgrading to all tube components This message has been edited by Clipped and Shorn on 08-13-2002 at 12:36 PM
TheEAR
Ken, How do French speaking folks(mayo eating monsters) call a receiver(ha got it right!),its RECEPTEUR(most common). French is a bit more complex,English can be teached to smurfs and aliens! They all bark the four letter word in no time, not knowing what they fart.Any primitive chowder head can speak English(primitive english mind you,...like me LOL ). Imagine with a vocabulary of 1000 words or less(and it shows)I am a genuine Answering Machine! And audiophile! TheEAR(s) Now theears
kenratboy
Ahhh, the French. You want complex? Look at a English - Spanish, French, etc. ENGINEERING dictionary. A simple one-word engineering term in English may be a couple of sentences in another language! Thank god I know English!!! ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come.
