thebes
BB's walkin down the road, going to meet somebody at the crossroads, and maybe sing a song about the Great Flood. His feet might get some Muddy Waters on it along the way, and before dawn comes he'll be Howlin at the Moon to keep the Wolves at bay. After all it's a long walk from the Delta to Chicago, who knows who he'll meet along the way. Maybe the 'orleans crowd will be strutting along helping him on his way, maybe a black umbrella to keep the sun off of his eyes, when he pauses to pass a wink or two with some fine young things. Bessie, Billie, Mamie, Etta and Koko. You just know Aretha will give him a shake and shimmy. Might even be some white boys lookin his way. Jake and Elwood, Eric and Randy, that Butterfield fella. You got to know that Buddy will make him stop over at his bar for a drink. Bobby Blue will be there, Robert Cray on his axe , Lightin Hopkins calling down the the thunder, Blind Willie whit a bit of acoustic, Sippie Wallace, Fred McDowell, Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton and Keb and Booker T, and on and on... ...for we all want to sing a song at the passing of the King; So light up the night, sing or play a song or two, and remember, T'aint nothin but The Blues. I'll start if off with what passes as a funeral dirge in that city sung by the Bourbon Street Jass Band, "Struttin With Some Barbeque". Send him down the road boys. Brought back some great memories of those great venues and watching Steve Miller and BB play.
joshnich
I attended a number of BB King shows at Fillmore west. And yes that article brought back terrific and vivid memories of that time. Josh
