billybobg
I'm Medicare age, but plan to work until 70 before collecting SS.If you are at full retirement age for SS at 66, don't wait until you are 70. While it is true you get another 8.5% for each year after for up to four years, it will take you approx. 15 years to break even, meaning it will be 15 years before you make up what you weren't receiving for those 4 years. Bruce I appreciate the input. My wife will file at 66 and I'll file and restrict, so I'll still be getting a check. As I stated, I know I'm rolling the dice, but I'm working full time and building a gov't pension. More than money in my pocket, it's about having the money to spend on what I want. I'm spoiled and lucky to this point. At 65, I bowled a 779 series last night. Someday it will all catch up, but I'm of the opinion that I'd rather die with a sword in my hand. Thanks again for the advice.

JL Sargent
No, but he would rather die with a sword instead of a bowling ball!
oldtimer
I'm not sure that was clear...
JL Sargent
And even less so now? oldtimer, you in Texas or Hawaii? Deaton, TX I think? On the retirement front: Not happening for me any time soon.
oldtimer
Still dual country. Denton, Texas and Honolulu, Hawaii. Oddly enough they are the only two states to have been an independent country before eventually becoming a state. I think both regret it lol. JL Sargent
Some people have a vacation home, but your sir, you took that to a serious level!
billybobg
No, but he would rather die with a sword instead of a bowling ball! A metaphor to dropping doing anything other than gasping for my last breath in a hospice.
rummy
So if you get to choose, last breath in a ICU room of a major hospital, or last breath in your house with hospice. I hope I get the later, my Doctor has promised me, but Doctors are known to lie.
