An ST-120 or a pair of MK3 mono blocks?

Well in my professional opinion the pair of Mark III's is a much more robust setup. The output iron is larger and better suited to deliver good frequency response top to bottom in a 60 Wac amplifier. The iron used on the ST120 is a compromise to shoehorn them into the small available space on the original ST70 foot print. Then the advantage of dedicated power supply for each channel cements the deal..

I've yet to try an st-70 but I have a set of Will Vincent Mark III's and I love them.....I had them the same time as my McIntosh MC60's and I think they sounded every bit as good, in fact a/b-ing them I had a couple people blindly pick the Mark III's over the McIntosh.  Of course, Will V. did do the restoration/upgrades
