JohnJ Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 That's a cool ss one too Paul! I've read about the programming that you can do with them to emulate set, pp and all of that. A few have been listed in the sale area the last couple of years. 1 Quote

This one is almost new Jan 2019 from an audiophile found in Sydney This unit will make my life easier - with saved preset profiles to suit my array of cartridges 👌🤟 3 Quote
JohnJ Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 No pops on side one of the first LP. It sound excellent `cept the first tune sounds not as good of a recording. It's been re-worked of course, and I believe it compliments my "Kiss The Sky" that sounds incredible from thirty years ago! Trying to work a deal with a vendor to replace the Floyd that I had again for just a little while, probably would listen to that more often than this... JohnJ Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Alright folks 😲 This LP is knocking my socks off!! There are a couple more out there of these previously unreleased songs that might be cool too. So far only on side 3 but side 2 has a different version of Stepping Stone, $20 Fine that Stephen Stills does a great job on, well heck it's his song. Jungle is an interesting interlude. Geeze, never noticed how long Jimi's fingers were.... that might have had something to do with it!! They cover Joni's Woodstock! Nice. 5 Quote
Full Range Posted August 11, 2019 Author Posted August 11, 2019 It’s time for a side shift today I know this album has lots of fans and I am one of them Brilliant in its own way Artist - Gentle Giant Title - Octopus 2 Quote
JohnJ Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 The Advent of Panurge sounds sort of like Tull on something "far out man"! (insert Tommy Chong's voice here) Not knocking it, I did listen to the whole thing! It is a change of pace @Full Range ! 2 Quote
Full Range Posted August 12, 2019 Author Posted August 12, 2019 About an hour ago I received a little surprise in the mail - in the form of a new phono stage from an audiophile in Sydney It a DSP design by Parkes Audio - The Puffin Playing around with the settings as I post I have never used my Test Records and it was a good time to unwrap one of them By - Opus 3 Title - Test Record 1 - Depth Of Image 2 Quote
JohnJ Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 Hey Paul, after you get it dialed in let us know about it. Does it brings something more to the forefront in a favorite passage? Add more realism to vocals or the lower depths? I'm on my second phono preamp and there are some distinct differences between those two that I've used. 1 Quote

Dave1290 Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Clapton, Winwood, Grech & Baker? Whew! 1969 as Blind Faith! Greatness imo! What's a pretty lil girl like me to do in 1968??? Kick some a$$ in San Fran w/the Boys that's all! One of the best you'll ever hear from those psychedelic years! 3 Quote
JohnJ Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Nice afternoon of tunes Dave! Besides Deja'Vu and the Hendrix not too much from the late 60s here `cept on cassette. Thunderstorms again this evening, six days in a row last week but none since until I fill the chimney with charcoal! Picked up a dry-aged porterhouse marked down seriously from the store this morning. So moving inside there's only one other way: butter, burgundy & mushrooms a little garlic in the iron skillet and fried that bad boy up crispy around the edges, pink on the inside! Thought that tryptophan was in turkey, I'll sleep good tonight! Not too far into the 70s these guys took a flute to Southern Rock like Jethro Tull did to R&R! 3 Quote
Dave1290 Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Thanks John. I enjoy it. The Crimson was misplace but I ran across it so went from there. Loved Janis too much and rarely played that Big Brother LP. It's such a great album. Chillin this evening but thinkin about that steak you ate. Bagels suck around here! lol The Marshall Tucker Band always works for me too! 2 Quote
Full Range Posted August 14, 2019 Author Posted August 14, 2019 Testing the new DSP phono stage with a familiar LP Current setting is set to Tube I am impressed with this little phono stage in these early stages Lots of fine adjustments to tweak for both cartridge and speaker But I’m still fiddling around with the settings This album is known to all and I have probably listened to it many hundreds of times Artist - Pink Floyd Title - Dark Side Of The Moon 2 1 Quote
