kenratboy
This is from www.howstuffworks.com , where there are TONS of kick @ss articles on how stuff works (it's all free, so it's all good.) This talks about how CD burners work: http://www.howstuffworks.com/cd-burner.htm A CD data track is 3.5 miles long, cool! They talk about THX in another article, and it kind of seems like an add. However, fo things like engines and transmissions, they have interactive demos and the like to show you how they work. A good site. ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. Flason
Kain, As a 10 year Navy vet, I felt your comments of 9/11 spit in the face of the 3000 Americans that lost their lives because of terrorism. I know you are young and are subject to a lot of internet propaganda, but I feel you were way out of line. I won't get caught in a name calling war here as I believe in being cival to everybody. Kain
Well, what about the 100,000 of lives lost in Palestine due to Israeli terrorism?? ------------------ Coming soon... Flason
All life is sacred. Human life has value regardless of religion, race, sex. The 100,000 doesn't justify the 3000. It's not a reason. It's not an excuse. It's terrorism.
Kain
Sure, then why do Americans ignore the Palestinian fact?? Why doesn't America stop it?? Why does America feed guns to Israel and nothing to Palestine?? Isn't America supporting terrorism here? ------------------ Coming soon... kenratboy
I (not someone else) didn't cause your problems. When America acts, we are "trying to take over the world." When America doesn't act, we are "selfish pigs who don't care." That is the old "damned if you do, damned of you don't." which has lead me to: Basically, I am at a point both personally and politically where I want to ensure AMERICA'S protection and trade with Europe and SE. Asia. After that, I just don't care. I don't care if you like America or not, but this forum is probably 99% American, so use your brains. As for Israel and Plaistine, I coundn't care less. I have to side with Israel because they wern't dancing in the streets after 9/11. Mike82
KAiN: KenRatBoy makes some interesting observations. Why aren't you railing about the Jordanians, who kicked the Palestinians out quite some time ago? Perhaps the Palestinians are persona-non-grata within the Arabic community. IMO, the dissention between the Islamic culture and the West has little to do with what the West has DONE, per se, and more of what we ARE. Since the fall of the Ottoman Empire (and even before when the Greeks stomped the $#!t our of Archimedes, Darius, etc), the Middle East and Islamic culture, in particular has been immersed in Theocratic government and tribalism which stifles progress. They lack consensual government (democracy), denigrate women, have little private property ownership, and refuse to engage in the activities that promote technology (although they don't mind the Mercedes-Benz, computers, and other products of Western culture). Islamic culture is fundamentally corrupt and inferior and were it not for the oil under your feet, your region would still be living in tents and riding camels. Hopefully, in my lifetime, the West(with our superior culture, hence technological primacy) will develop energy sources adequate to write-off that region of the world. All your region has of value is oil. ------------------ 2 Channel Transport: CEC TL-2X DAC: Audiomat Maestro Pre-amp: Wyetech Jade Amps: Jeff Korneff 45 Interconnects/Speaker cable: Analysis Plus Solo Monocrystal Power cords/line conditioner: CPCC Top Gun, Model 11, Super Power Block Equip Stand: Grand Prix Audio Monaco K-horns w/ALK Second system- My dad's old Fisher 400-refurbished, Heresy II, Vecteur Variation CD player
Kain
Do you have any idea of how Dubai is?? There are more Americans and Europeans here than locals! Here in Dubai, women can drive, work, own, wear what they want. They have no restrictions! You'll be surprised to know that some American actors bought HOMES here in Dubai on an artificially island that they are making called Palm Island. It is called Palm Island because it looks like a palm tree from the sky. Dubai also has the most luxurious hotel in the world. It is called Burj al Arab (The Arabian Tower) and is rated 7 stars and has an under-water resturant. These are just some nice things about Dubai. By the way, Dubai's income is only 15% from oil, rest is from tourism. ------------------ Coming soon... Mike82
My comments were not directed at the UAE, in particular, but to the region and its culture. While Dubai may be he Middle Eastern "Riviera", I think their acceptance of some western culture is due to pragmatism rather than ideology. However, the UAE's government (and other "moderate countries"- Saudi Arabia, Yemen) is NOT a democratically elected ruling body, is it? The only real democracy in that region is Israel. So while some countries may try to appear "progressive", their hearts are still allied with theocracy and ultimately tribalism. ------------------ 2 Channel Transport: CEC TL-2X DAC: Audiomat Maestro Pre-amp: Wyetech Jade Amps: Jeff Korneff 45 Interconnects/Speaker cable: Analysis Plus Solo Monocrystal Power cords/line conditioner: CPCC Top Gun, Model 11, Super Power Block Equip Stand: Grand Prix Audio Monaco K-horns w/ALK Second system- My dad's old Fisher 400-refurbished, Heresy II, Vecteur Variation CD player

I have to side with Israel because they wern't dancing in the streets after 9/11. A minor quibble: When I saw that footage I hit the roof because I remembered seeing it some years previously,(although I couldn't recall what those people were cheering about). It was revealed a couple of days later that the clip was actually several years old and had nothing to do with the WTC atrocity. It is that kind of blatant manipulation of public opinion that causes me to take anything the media in Canada and the US. have to say with a grain of salt. ------------------ It is meet to recall that the Great Green Heron rarely flies upside down in the moonlight - (Foo Ling ca.1900)
