Bruce22
Help, please. I feel crazy stupid. I am trying to set up a pair of Klipsch RP-8000F speakers with a Onkyo TX-RZ50 receiver. During the speakers set-up (using speaker 2.1 without a sub-woofer), I cannot get the test sound through the speakers. I am using generic 16-gauge wire. Is it the wire? I have re-wired the speakers and receivers several times. The surprise birthday present for my wife is not working out so well... Thanks. billybob
Do not believe it is the wire. Should do 2.1 test but check for 2.0 if one and consult your owners manual. re the jumper connectors, straps between lf/hf that came with speakers connected properly? Have you another speaker or audio receiver to test to eliminate? Likely menu needs relooking at. Will check back in a bit. @Bruce22
Bruce22
I did not see a 2.0, only a 2.1 option. I will look at the lf/hf jumpers - I believe they are connected Thanks again.
The History Kid
What does the wiring behind the AVR look like, and what does the wiring behind the speaker look like? Photos?

You’ll want to find the subwoofer settings in the menu and make sure it’s set to No or Off and the speakers are set to Large or Full Range. Peter P.
Are your speakers turned off? Are you connected to your "B" pair and not the "A" pair? Do you possibly have headphones connected which may automatically shut off the speakers? I don't even see in the manual where you can set up the system as 2.1, but I'm still looking. Peter P.
Have you followed the speaker setup instructions on Page 159 in the manual? I'm thinking you're outputting sound to Zone 2 or 3 for your test tones instead of Zone 1. Is the level of your test tone too low to be heard? Is the word "Muting" on your display? Do you have a listening mode selected which is not 2.1 compatible? See the manual chart on Page 183.

Bruce22
Thank you so very much, fine folk. Sorry I was away for several hours yesterday evening and night. I hade done something even more basic than most of you guessed or surmised. I had the main speaker connected to the Height input rather than the Main. In hindsight this makes absolute sense, duh!, but the single pair of (Height) connectors lured me to mis-wire the speaker. Thank you all so much for weighing in - fabulous community for folks like me - obviously in over their heads - have great days. The History Kid
I was wondering if they were actually 8000FA (future reference, they are if they have atmos). This is a common mistake - don't feel bad.
