reel 2 reel
This is the oiled walnut...its a little redder...there's no sheen, but if you put lemmon oil on it, the grain just jumps out at ya..
ChrisK
Justin, This is a little deeper and more red - Chris
formica
I think you should choose a veneer-grain you like as the stain will vary the darkness of the final product. These are Birch... with 2 coats of red stain which gave this inbetween colour.
justin_tx_16
ok, I want that with a smidge more brown. that looks so purty!
formica
It's a very common Minwax RedOak colour (I think but I'll check it to be sure) with many (6? 8?) coats of polyurethane, wet sanded between each coat. Had you seen the before picture? (I've posted it in another forum)
garymd
Now that's an improvement!! Those are the best before/after pictures I've seen since the Richard Simmons show went off the air.

jhawk92
Justin- You read my mind with the giraffe comment. Geesh, that's scary...here I am never having met Clu (though she did buy my KV-3) and I know she loves giraffes. Great place the forum! michael hurd
Wow, that is the most amazing before and after pictures of a speaker cabinet that I have ever seen. You did a great job ! That qualifies for extreme makeover status, you know, like on the jerry springer show.
formica
Thanks guys... Well they are now complete... I bought some replacement alnico woofers from Don (aka; digjr, thanks!) on these forums... the WAF has surpassed my factory black 78 heresys. I haven't had a chance to audition them yet... but will get around to it next week. Rob PS: keeping the carpet clean is always the challenge! Not that you can get too excited about a speaker...BUT..I am in total lust how great they look. (and no I am OK not going to make out with em later relax!!!) hahahahahaha Roger
3dzapper
I just bought some figured black walnut on ebay to veneer my Khorns. They are currently walnut stained birch plywood. I hope they look as good as those cherry Cornwalls when we get them done. I'll post pictures of the project when ir gets underway. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2334672162&category=3131 Rick
