Cornwall II --> KLF-C7 or Academy Center?

kraemer

Recommended Posts

A while back, I read (on this BBS, as well as on the Klipsch Web site) that the KLF-C7 is the perfect match for the Cornwall II's (for 5.1 home theater). However, the new klipsch web site now states the Academy Center is the correct match for the Cornwall II's. Does anyone have experience with using both center speakers in combination with the Cornwall II? Does the C7 or academy center match the C II's better?

What about surround speakers?

Any help is appreciated, as always.

I would go with the Heresy 2s if you can, the tweeters would match better!!

Once in a while some one sells one Heresy, because they buy a pair just to have 1 for center!

keep an eye out for them on E-BAY!

You can try different centers, the cornwalls are hard to match, if you see the academy center try that one, let your own mind decide!!

Have fun Jim

i have a c-7 & klf-30s w/ cornwalls in the rear (due to space/room config.) though I haven't (yet) been able to mate the c-7 & corns, I think it would be an excellent timbre match.

of course if i had the space i'd have the corns in front w/ the c-7 (damn fireplace). but then i would have gotten a heresy (or II) before a c-7 (confused yet?) Smile.gif

anywho, i thought someone said on another thread that u

can special order a single heresy II. might want to check that at 1-800-klipsch and/or your dealer.

Kraemer:

To clear the confusion on why the recommended center for you changed on our website....we used to only list the current available model that was the closest match to a customer's speaker. Due to popular demand, we now list the original matching center/surrounds to your speaker, whether it is still available or not. how's that for customer service! (shameless plug)

kraemer:

There was never an original matching surround speaker to match the Cornwall II due to HT just getting started during its reign.

The best match will be our new RS-7's when they hit dealers in a few weeks. Big sound to match the sound of our Heritage pieces of today and yesterday, along with Legend and our new RF-5 and RF-7.

Don't the Heresey II and Cornwall II have the same Squawker and tweeter? Looks the same in pictures. If so, the HII would be a great match. I have a C7 mated to La Scalas and it is a good, but not quite perfect match. The C7 is smaller than an HII and is shielded, so it might be the best match if you have a direct view TV.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am currently using an Academy center with Cornwall I front speakers. Is this the recommended center for the Cornwall I speakers also?

On an unrelated note, the horn in the Academy is vertical rather than horizontal. What is the reasoning for this placement?

Thanks,

Jim

John, The Cornwall II and Heresy II use different tweeters and squawkers. Actually the Cornwall II and Heresy II have the same tweeter horn but the driver on the Cornwall II has a much larger magnet structure. You can buy just one Heresy II, I did for my center channel between two Cornwall II's. I'm trying to find a single Cornwall II for the center to see what that sounds like. Dan

As luck would have it, I just picked up a Belle Klipsch for a center channel ... I have both a walnut oil Heresy (I) and KT-LCR/THX-rated center channels for sale.

If you're interested, let me know ... robinsonc@mediaone.net.

Going off to Ebay-land soon!

Here is my recommendation. For Cornwall II's, another Cornwall II would be the best center. If that is too big (most likely it is), then a Heresy II would be the next best choice. An Academy would follow as the third best choice with a KLF-C7 as the fourth best option.

Hey Chris.......

I just emailed my buddy and he might just want that Heresy that you have for sale. I gave him your email address so if he is interested he is going to send you an email. He too has Cornwall 1's for fronts and he is just setting up for HT.
