EDIT: Greg, I emailed and msg'd you (via the forum options) with the formatted line to post links. hope the forum doesn't turn it into a link again. Kudret
Finally a pair in Canada and at driving distance to Montreal. Thanks guys. kudret Edit: Just noticed, $1700 opening bid and 9+ days to go.
fini
He'd get much more if he had good photographs of the actual speakers. Probably enough to buy a nice digital camera... fini
BigBusa
ahhhh montreal. St. catherine street. What are these "certificates" he speaks of? Did he peel off the glued on serial number stickers and have PWK sign them? If the seller went out and bought a cheap digital camera he would recoup his camera costs in the extra money he'd make in the auction. You just can't sell a $1700 pair of speakers on ebay without actual pictures.
ricktate
Did anyone from the forum get these,,,the guy told me he had a strong offer from ILL. guy??or did he just not want to sell...........ebay 305857331...he sent me pics after itime ran out,,,wierd huh,,,,1800.00 no pics....rick
Kudret
He posted some pictures and the serial number stickers show them as '86 (not '85). Is this a good year? Also, what does LIF mean (in KB-WO LIF)? kudret
Radiohead
Can anyone, Trey perhaps, assure the authenticity of these signatures? They look like they could have been added on by the seller.
Clipped and Shorn
Can those staple paper tears be repaired or would that detract from the value? C&S
Daddy Dee
Rings true to me. Sounds like the real deal. Have no clue, though, as to actual value.
Kudret
Actually, I am more concerned about the AK-2 in them than the removed label. kudret
BigBusa
It looks like he sold them off ebay. I think they call that circumventing final value fees. Isn't that against ebay polices?
Parrot
You can always end an eBay auction early if you want to. eBay would prefer to get their percentage, of course, but they aren't going to do anything about it. The other day I saw an amp go from $55 to $405 in the last 30 seconds. Ending an auction early is not a good thing to do unless you know exactly what you want out of something and are willing to bet that nobody in the world is going to pay a crazy price for it. Frzninvt
Kudret, there is nothing wrong with the AK-2 crossover it still sounds good. In addition, it can easily be upgraded to an AK-3 by swapping 2 parts out. The 2 70uf caps in the woofer circuit can be replaced with a single Solen 100uf, and the 4mh iron core coil in the midrange circuit can be replaced with a 5mh air core coil then it will be an AK-3. I have '88 Khorns and have already done this. But I guess you don't have to worry about it now since the Khorns are no longer available. Kudret
I exchanged several emails with the seller yesterday and everything seemed ok. Bummer! Frzninvt, thanks for the information anyway. kudret
Jon Anderson
Another reason to remove an item from eBay would be if someone questioned the authenticity of the PWK signature. Can't say this happened but the whole thing seemed odd.
Kudret
There is some history behind the speakers and I don't believe there is any doubt about the authenticity of the PWK signature. The seller, Dean, seems to be a really nice person and he may re-list them in the near future. kudret
