The ones I heard were being driven by a huge ARC D79 on the low end and a pair of MC30's on the high end. They sounded great. And yes, they were in fact something to write home about!! At least the ones I heard anyway.

IF these Fraziers were the Dixielanders, they SURE are someting to write home about.

The Dixielanders are outrageously musical.

I find them to be a FAR cry from the shrill, wiry, squaky, wood colored sound of many Klipsch "Heritage" speakers i have owned.

To MY ears, the Fraziers sound like Music, the Klipsch sound like noise.

Altecs and JBL sound better to my ears then Klipsch, and so do Frazier Dixielanders.

And, YES my child, I HAVE had tubes on Klipsch, and chip amps, and sonic bullshit, etc, etc.

I DID like the OLD Fortes, but they were a little on the edge for my tastes.

CF 4 version 1 was good too, but needed tone controls too much for my liking.

But did you check the date out of the post you were responding too? lol....

Seems someone did a search on Frazier and didn't look too much closer.

Yep, they were Dixilanders. Two pair in fact. I'll never forget because the final bid was like $102.00 or so. After all these years I'm still mad about it!!!

I would buy every Dixielander I could get at that price.

Shoot, the Altec 816 A compression driver and horn has to be worth near that alone ?

Many do not know about these, but word is getting out.

They have a different :soul: then most Klipsch.

Klipsch has a more west coast sound, these are more east coast.

A different perspective, to be sure.

I much prefer a more laid back sound myself, more east coast.

The Dixielanders are devoid of low bass, and the highest highs.

But what they do reproduce, for a high efficiency speaker, they do pretty well.

An overlooked design, IMHO
