What's with all the hostility

Recommended Posts

I may be alone in this but I don't understand why there is so much hostility on the board these days. I have been out of touch and very busy for a while so maybe I missed something. I hate it when people don't get along...Anyone know what's going on??? cwm4.gif

Wow, Mystery Guest, welcome back and best wishes on a speedy "owie" recovery! May the beauty of your avatar blend with your ethereal prose to restore peace and loving-kindness to all on this board. You have restored serenity unto the fiber of my being... except toward those cwm23.gif authorized dealers who deny large market areas from seeing and hearing the latest Klipsch offerings. Whoops... but, really, Mystery Guest, it DOES help me feel better for just a little while. cwm38.gif HornEd

yea mg, i don't understand it as we on this board are like the 1% of the world population who actually know at least something about today's audio. iow, we're a select group so we should be able to get along & have intelligent conversations.

the non-humor flaming w/ nothing positive to suggest/add is my peeve here.

though overall, it's a great educational & entertaining forum imho. cwm38.gif

Well, so much for my "Draft Seb as Sgt. of Arms of the Klipsch BB" initiative... I'm gonna switch my vote to Boa and move we elect MG as Spiritual Advisor.

Oops, constructive you say... cwm4.gif Yet another challenge! HornEd

PS: I was glad when the "all-seeing-administrator" knocked off the political rhetoric. And to a point, I agree with Seb about this not being the worst BB environment... despite a few "disturbers" who lurk and leak in every once in a while. But, there is no doubt that this is a better place when we all try to make it so. Thanks for setting the tone Mystery Guest... and next time don't make it b flat.

thanks ed! that beats my duties of "standard bearer" years ago in demolay Biggrin.gif

however as i was telling keith my time spent here will now be limited due to significant other (though that could change quickly). so i must pass those duties back to seb Smile.gif

Other than the political rantings that were exchanged a few weeks ago I would say this is one of the most informative and peaceful BB's in existance.

I've heard some frustration voiced by a few that can't seem to hear or, worse, purchase the Klipsch products they so desire. I surely sympathize with them.

As a newbie I do appreciate the wry humor, intelligent repartee, and, of course, the ebb and flow of the different opinions of the audiophiles that frequent this board.

I say KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TO ALL...........cwm32.gif

What hostility? Maybe you are confusing(as BobG said)everyone's passion for audio/Klipsch with hostility.I just see people that love a hobby and try to help each other acquire that ultimate sound. Such as I have with my Klipsch KSP300's!

Hey Mystery Guest, maybe you meant HOSPITALITY!

The only hostility I've seen on this BB has been in postings related to BOSE-which frankly is needed to help educate the world. Sometimes passion is mistaken for hostility.

PEACE OUT

P.S. Keith my post/response regarding gasoline in the speaker wire topic was purely for clarification---I WAS NOT FLAMING YOU---You are a beloved Klipsch friend of us all!! Now I find myself rereading previous posts so as not to have potentially offended anyone.

P.S.-Keith what do you mean by "If I find the time to remove the Denon 3801 from the box" from a different post....Do I smell a potential sale here, if so PM me.

This thread brings to mind a great song.....

"Why can't we be friends.... why can't we be friends, Why can't we be friends"--WAR

Stop rambling already!!!

Well, I've heard it said before, "If you can't take the hate, get out of the Klipsch-in'", but I've never understood what that meant until now...cwm38.gif fini

Bloomis, didn't mean anything other than that.I bought the 3801 almost 2 months ago and its still in the box. Haven't had time to set it up,but then again I'm not really ready to.Waiting on another Acurus 125X5 to go with my present 100X3 to use with the 3801 as a preamp,

basically. Then have to have new radio shack interconnects(hehehe)and a new rack.I have lots of patience.I'll get it soon.

I enjoyed that post you spoke of and it brought to mind

some problems I DID have lately using high octane gasoline. My truck(no gun rack)manual recommends the high octane juice for "improved performance".They didn't say anything about the high octane fuel burning "cooler" and

causing carbon build up in engine. Now I know this sounds off base but it really was a horror story.Had trouble returning from Mississippi with a load of Klipsch speakers. The wife had to walk 12 miles to get help.So if you use the high octane be sure and get the wife some good walking shoes(does that sound hostile?).

And boa,I know its none of my business, but sometimes you have to take a step back and consider what's really

important to you.Tell her you'll miss her and to close the door on her way out! Biggrin.gif

Yea you missed some antagonist who upset because they discontinued speakers he already owns telling bobg the moderator BobG to GFY & meaning it.

He made up some excuse that BobG told him something like it from an acronym. See the RF-5 sighting Thread.

something constructive, hmmm, how about kicking him off the forum Smile.gif

But i guess he's improved now as when i ridiculed the RP-3 he had no rebuttal. steam must have been coming from ears. come now cc109, that not healthy.

maxg,

Yeah, guess you did... this is the exchange to which she was referring...

A man walks into an office.

Man: Good morning, I'd like to have an argument, please.

Receptionist: Certainly, sir. Have you been here before?

Man: No, this is my first time.

Receptionist: Fine. Well let's see who's free at the moment... Mr. DeBakey's free, but he's a little bit concilliatory. Why not try Mr. Barnhart in room 12?

Man: Thank you. <He enters room 12.>

Angry man: WHADDAYOU WANT?

Man: Well... I was told outside that...

Angry man: DON'T GIVE ME THAT, YOU SNOTTY-FACED HEAP OF PARROT DROPPINGS!

Man: What?

Angry man: SHUT YOUR FESTERING GOB, YOU ***! YOUR TYPE REALLY MAKES ME PUKE! YOU VACUOUS COFFEE-NOSED MALODOROUS PERVERT!!!

Man: ...but, but I came here for an argument!!

Angry Man: OH! Oh! I'm sorry, but this is abuse!

Man: Oh! Oh I see!

Angry man: Aha! You'll want room 12A, just along the corridor.

Man: Oh... So sorry...

Angry man: Not at all!

<Man closes door on his way out>

Angry man: (under his breath) stupid git. <The man goes into room 12A.>

Another man is sitting behind a desk.

Man: Is this the right room for an argument?

Other Man: (pause) I've told you once.

Man: No you haven't!

Other Man: Yes I have.

Man: When?

Other man: Just now.

Man: No you didn't!

Other man: Yes I did!

Man: You didn't!

Other man: I did!

Man: You didn't!

Other man: I'm telling you, I did!

Man: You didn't!

Other man: Oh I'm sorry, is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour?

Man: Ah! (taking out his wallet and paying) Just the five minutes.

Other man: Just the five minutes. Thank you. Anyway, I did.

Man: You most certainly did not!

Other man: Now let's get one thing perfectly clear; I most definitely told you!

Man: Oh no you didn't!

Other man: Oh yes I did!

Man: Oh no you didn't!

Other man: Oh yes I did!

Man: Oh no you didn't!

Other man: Oh yes I did!

Man: Oh no you didn't!

Other man: Oh yes I did!

Man: Oh no you didn't!

Other man: Oh yes I did!

Man: Look, this isn't an argument!

Other man: (pause) Yes it is!

Man: No it isn't! It's just contradiction!

Other man: No it isn't!

Man: It IS!

Other man: It is NOT!

Man: You just contradicted me!

Other man: No I didn't!

Man: You DID!

Other man: No no no!

Man: You did just then!

Other man: Nonsense!

Man: (exasperated) Oh, this is futile!! (pause)

Other man: No it isn't!

Man: Yes it is! I came here for a good argument!

Other man: AH, no you didn't, you came here for an *argument*!

Man: An argument isn't just contradiction.

Other man: Well! it CAN be!

Man: No it can't! An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.

Other man: No it isn't!

Man: Yes it is! It isn't just contradiction.

Other man: Look, if I *argue* with you, I must take up a contrary position!

Man: Yes, but that isn't just saying "no it isn't".

Other man: Yes it is!

Man: No it isn't!

Other man: Yes it is!

Man: No it isn't!

Other man: Yes it is!

Man: No it ISN'T! Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of any statement the other person makes.

Other man: It is NOT!

Man: It is!

Other man: Not at all!

Man: It is!

<The Arguer (Other man) hits a bell on his desk and stops.> DING!

Other man: Thank you, that's it.

Man: (stunned) What?

Other man: That's it. Good morning.

Man: But I was just getting interested!

Other man: I'm sorry, the five minutes is up.

Man: That was never five minutes!!

Other man: I'm afraid it was.

Man: (leading on) No it wasn't..... (pause)

Other man: (dirty look) I'm sorry, I'm not allowed to argue any more.

Man: WHAT??

Other man: If you want me to go on arguing, you'll have to pay for another five minutes.

Man: But that was never five minutes just now! <pause... the Other Man raises his eyebrows> Oh Come on! Oh this is... This is ridiculous!

Other man: I told you... I told you, I'm not allowed to argue unless you've PAID!

Man: Oh all right. (takes out his wallet and pays again.) There you are.

Other man: Thank you.

Man: (clears throat) Well...

Other man: Well WHAT?

Man: That was never five minutes just now.

Other man: I told you, I'm not allowed to argue unless you've paid!

Man: Well I just paid!

Other man: No you didn't!

Man: I DID!!!

Other man: YOU didn't!

Man: I DID!!!

Other man: YOU didn't!

Man: I DID!!!

Other man: YOU didn't!

Man: I DID!!!

Other man: YOU didn't!

Man: I don't want to argue about that!

Other man: Well you didn't pay!

Man: Ah HAH!! Well if I didn't pay... why are you arguing??? Ah HAAAAAAHHH! Gotcha!

Other man: (pause) No you haven't!

Man: Yes I have! If you're arguing, I must have paid.

Other man: Not necessarily. I *could* be arguing in my spare time.
