I don't know about Indy. I hope this gives what's wanted.

Michael you're going to have to put your mattress on some of all of the speakers you own.

If you have a basement consider some extra floor support for them :)

Congrats to the two of you.

Nice post Michael..Thank you..

The quest, 4 split La Scala tops.. 6 Bottom bass cabinets.. A fantastic price in 9- 10 shape cosmetically, and a week where I could drive and pick them up!

The trip was worth it for sure.. Like Michael said, The cabinets were basically brand new... on the outside. I brought a small 30 WPC amp with a cd player in it... (Think JVC executive office system from sharper image..LOL) missed 3 out of 4 tweeters... Who knows how people blow things sometimes..Wrong fuses?? Who knows..??

Even with one tweeter working 2 mids and 2 lows... I turned it on and heard, "Shower the people.... you love with love...Show them the way you feel" by James Taylor... Here in this huge sanctuary exhausted and the speakers only 5/6th working correctly, it was a "religious musical experience" how wonderful cranked up a little that song live is ../.In a big sanctuary!! Michael said he did not know if I was beaming from smiling so much or if I had tears of joy!

I already have 4 splits at home so with these 4 splits I have "MY VERSION" of a La Scala HT with the addition of the Klipsch THX amp and 2 Subs. This was my dream for 2 years to accomplish. I will tell the rest of the story later Michael was so kind to call and say do you need help unloading anything?? So let me get them out of the van and we will take some pics for bragging rights...LOL.. I always talk about Timbre...and how important it is.. I will be finally able to test my own theory with 7 Scalas...and pass on my findings..

Till later....

Roger

Everything unloaded and looks like no damage. There wasn't even room for the speakers to slide around, unless you slammed on the brakes, in which case about 800 pounds of LaScala would be headed towards the back of your seat and head area. Kind of scary in those tense moments on a rain-soaked highway!

Got my two Bass Bins home, safe and sound with their brothers, and Roger has his big pile'o'klipsch- his theatre is going to be amazing, but that's his story to tell. Photos should be coming up soon, we took a few with the all the LS piled high in his drive this afternoon.

I'm going to bed now- it was a wild 5 days!

C'mon Roger, where's the pix? Guys when you see these please remember we had been up for pretty much 20 out of the last 24 hours when these were taken. Roger drove last couple hours in pea-soup fog.

btw- DIBS on anything you need to sell to clear out the used Klipsch storage facility! LOL Like I really need more!

That's the best audio system I've ever seen in a van......but aren't you supposed to leave room for a girl in the back??? 3.gif

Looks like a great haul and sounds like you might have even had some fun along the way. Thanks for the pics.

You guys don't realize how close this pix is to my reality about 20 years ago. As I've mentioned here several times, I used to work for a PA hire company. Did a lot of rentals for DJ's and small bands. My standard rig was what you see in the photo- double stacked split LaScalas. With the horns at 4-6 feet above floor surface, we kidded that it 'cut their heads clean off'!Insert smilie Those were wild heady days of smokin, drinking and whatever else Insert smilie (it was the 80's). Good times.

Now I've got basically the same system of my very own. Thanks to my reconnection to Klipsch and the help of you guys on the Forum. Just spent the afternoon tinkering in my shop with these babies blasting Robert Plant! Damn the neighbors- that's why I have two acres!Insert smilie

All this hype of a road trip to get some grand treasure and this is what it's all about!?? A bunch of black speaker boxes with handles??? Sheesh.....I can't believe I wasted my time going through two pages of thread and a bunch of image downloads.

You guys suck!

And I'm jealous as hell!!

I can't wait to give them a listen either...I've always wanted to know how the pro scalas sounded.

One thing I've always wondered is does stacking the two bass bins change the slope of the response, or does it just give you a straight up 6dB gain with the same slope? Like does the F3 stay at 50Hz or does is drop to say 40Hz?
