Seadog
Arkytype, I think you must be referring to the CD that Woodog brought. I think he said the artist was Ar Rahman, CD title "Vande Mataram" (Forrest, correct me if I'm wrong). I jotted it down because I really liked it too. colterphoto1
I don't have an answer to that question, but I did come up with a name for the new business venture Sandy is getting into (Sandy owns the Goat Roper). "Hope Springs Internal" I will just say, next year's dinner will include an expanded "shootout." Huh? I saw you in there talking to Sandy at the end of the night. Wuz up? Woodog
In the mid '70s, one of the Klipsch reps drove a VW van with a pair of La Scalas in the rear facing forward! Stereo separation wasn't much but they would sure part your hair. For those attending the Hollis' Goat Roper "shootout", does anyone remember bringing a CD (on the Columbia label) that had a really strong opening bass line? The artist was perhaps Indian and the cover art was an abstract form. The music was New Age/Alternative ? Lee Lee, that was A.R. Rahman: Vande Mataram 1997, Columbia (Sony Music) Woo

Reminds me of that SNL episode with Phil Hartman doing the Colon Blow Cereal commercial. Was she serious about that...I mean really..... As Jethro would say, "I'm afeared pa". Arkytype
Woo, Many thanks for the info. Vande Mataram doesn't show up on the Sony/Columbia web site but the seller of eBay item #4703794174 has several new ones. The price is $12.45 delivered. Daddy Dee
Woodog, Just noticed your tagline. That is REALLY funny. Dry, too.
BS Button
Dee, Woodog brought over his Scott pre today for use with the Dynaco. It certainly cut the edge on that CD direct deal, softened things up a bit and it had a loudness button! Sounded wonderful! BS
Daddy Dee
BS, glad to hear it. Good sounding gear, eh?
LarryC
Dee, how's the weather been there over the past two days? TV reports were saying 35-50 mph winds and 5"-10" of rain from Rita -- it looks like last weekend was the right one for the Hope pilgrimage, 'cause nothing would have flown in or out anywhere near Hope during this one. colterphoto1
HEY BRO TONY! Have you posted here yet? Apologize if I've missed your impressions of the tour. You started this whole thing- was it up to your expectations? Thanks again for planting the seed. Michael
Daddy Dee
Larry, Thanks for asking. Central Arkansas hasn't had it too badly. On balance we needed rain, though lots of farmers are taking a hit in the middle of harvest. We mostly had rain, plenty of it and some wind. Not really bad damage. Every motel room in Arkansas has been booked with folks up here from Texas. Yeh, I was thinking the same thing on the right weekend to be in Hope. Haven't heard anything on Hope weather the last few days, but was looking at the radar and they were getting more tropical storm than central Arkansas. We were definitely there at the right time. Woodog
Dee, Woodog brought over his Scott pre today for use with the Dynaco. It certainly cut the edge on that CD direct deal, softened things up a bit and it had a loudness button! Sounded wonderful! BS The preamp did sound nice, but to be honest I was wondering what was it about the sound of the CD player --> ST70 sound he didn't like. It was full, rich, ballsy, and, well, just fine overall. The ST70 gave rock solid imaging and a much needed crystal shine vs. the solid state I had heard previously. My preamp helped a little, but certainly not $500.00 worth of 'little'. my $.02, Woo
