dougdrake2
Figured I'd start a new version of this thread, since the other one seems to have gone into the ditch... I liked someone else's approach of listing price paid and MSRP. It's interesting to see the deals some people get. Paid/MRSP. t-man
That $1550 doesn't include my LD player (Free - $1k retail), PLX, or TV. All else in my signature is included. I use Radioshack Gold interconnects throughout. My wife thinks that Bose are cute speakers, and that there is no sound difference between my TV speakers, and my HT that she cares about. She would be happy if my speakers were underwater. All these toys are needless expenses to her. With the exception of my DVD player and Denon, all my equipment was purchased used to save considerable money. Oops, the C7 is new, though - at a price better than used. I'm trying to drop hints that I need a new TV (mine is 8 years old, and no S-video or component video). I really want a WEGA. I think it will be a year or two until I can convince her of this expense. My TV still works - sort of... Am I the only one who still has a LD player???? dougdrake2
t-man - perhaps you could try my wife's trick for getting new appliances when she is tired of, or frustrated with, the old ones. For example, with one of our telephones, it somehow kept falling off the table onto the tile floor until one day it just shattered and had to be replaced. Not that I would suggest anything so drastic as that for your tv, but... t-man
DD2, yea...I thought of that. Perhaps a 'lightning storm' could take out my TV, but leave the rest alone. Seems you and I like the same stuff - late 80s to Early 90's Klipsch, yea! They sure don't make them like they used to. I can't believe you have 2 prs of fortes and Chorus, and KG4 and KG3. How many rooms do you have??? Seems like you are in need of an Academy with that collection. My father in law has a pair of black Forte's sitting in his basement - out of use. They are a little dinged up, but I still want them; even though I have no present use for them. Would be interesting to see them head to head with the KG 5.5s. Problem is that I don't think I can convince the wife to let me buy them from him. Seems like you are in need of an Academy with that collection." Actually, the Forte's are now acting as decorative pieces around the edge of my HT room. Not even hooked up One pair was displaced by the Chorus, and the second pair was part of the package when I bought the Chorus. In fact, I'd like to get an Academy just to try it out. Know where I can find one, reasonable? "Problem is that I don't think I can convince the wife to let me buy them from him." Don't buy them -- just offer to free up some space in his basement so he can store more tools there. Of course, you'll be happy to return them when he wants them back

Fried Elliott
Here's a trick my wife uses. She goes and buys some new clothes and puts them in the closet. Some time later she wears them for the first time and I go, "Honey, is that new?" and she goes "Aww, no, it's been hanging in the closet." frantic frank
Every thing I've got was free. Sure I bought it all new and paid them thier asking price, but my point is. I grew up a navy brat with memories of little frills and alot of good times had on exotic beaches in far away lands.Seems there was never an abundence of money, but mom and dad were happy then.college was out of the question. No money followed by less money. The trade I practice picked me. I was fascinated with machinery an tore apart dad's lawn mower at 9 yrs. old. Saw what made it roar, put it back together and it worked fine. Now I own my shop,I repair motor cars, it's what I truely love to do,The money is plentiful and it's just a fringe benefit. I never rise to an alarm clock and I don't have issues. So, you see,Every thing I've aquired is free. Life is good. Now watch the politicians screw it all up. ------------------ Sonic Frontiers; line 3SE, Power 2SE.
