BS Button
A good friend of mine brought over his Dynaco ST 70 and pre-amp. All I can say is "Wow!" Definately noticed the "less fatigue" factor. Warmth was also quite prevelant: smoother response, less harsh but just as dynamic. Auditioned several pcs of music before with solid state Adcom. I'm going with Tubes for two channel ASAP. ST70 was my first experience with tubes too and I had the same "wow" feeling.
lwhaples
BS, Enjoy the hunt. I've only had my ST70 and Blueberry for about 2wks and still get the WOW factor. Still want a better TT,but that's part of the fun. Larry
mike stehr
I thought the ST-70 had kind of a boring sound. Maybe it was the amp.......
crazytubepower
They are boring and "dull" stock. But once you get some good mods in there, stand back, once modded you'll spend about 700-800 total you will have an amp the will kill any thing near its price
mike stehr
Yeah, so they say......but I don't have that kind of money to burn on a Dynaco ST-70. My 30 year JVC SS integrated sounds as good as that ST-70 I had when it comes to rocking out powerwise. But that is JMHO.

There are worlds of other options that put the adcom to dust when paired with horns. But by all means if you like what you've heard and want it in your home go for it. Good Luck! LOL I just spent the better part of the day listening to musiclover's new oak Khorns he bought from Tubes, Buds, n Horns. Musiclover has an ST-70 fronted by a McIntosh solid state preamp. It sounded very nice! Woo
BS Button
Hey Woo, Yes, that's the guy. He ended up with Heresy's, which is not bad considering the story behind them. He wanted to hear the Cornwalls again, and was amazed. I was amazed at the difference between SS and tubes. We did a 2 minute switch out and I could definately notice a difference...and I was skeptical.

I'm a webdesigner and photographer and I make a few thousand a month just going to school and designing websites. So I would say I'm 15 in age but in my late 20's in mind. Anyone got a daughter she'll have the best with me
crazytubepower
Thanks mark! I try. I have a huge deal in the works, Webmaster for a home loan company, I will recive 10% of all online sales i.e. online applications that are aproved and the loan in made. Not bad, huh. I don't get to spend most of my money though. It goes away for college, so I'm still broke!

Deang
The GFA 535 II is a good amp. Pair it up with a decent tube preamp and you're 90% there. Don't ask me where "there" is.
BS Button
Dean, Where there is? Yeah, I've heard that this amp is one of the better Adcoms. Don't ask me what better is...maybe you know what they meant. So maybe the pre-amp is what astonished me?

Depends on the definition of "near."
crazytubepower
Well i've never been to that site, however near i mean with in a few hundred. Personaly I would pay a $200-300 more for quicksilver mini-mites. Thats just me however
