Jeff Matthews
I see we are w/o a challenge. Try this: "Lock all your doors from the outside The key will dangle by the inside You may begin to understand That this is the night we ride This ain't the garden of eden There ain't no angels above And things ain't like what they used to be And this ain't <name of song>" Name that Tune! Get up, get out, get out of the door Your playin cold music on the barroom floor Drowned in your laughter and dead to the core. Theres a dragon with matches thats loose on the town Takes a whole pail of water just to cool him down."
Jeff Matthews
Okay, I'm renaming this thread to "Ray vs. Bart." You seem to be the only 2 guys who have photographic memories of obscure tunes from multiple genre.
jacksonbart
Hint - Its a Greatful Dead tune as the one before it. some more "Almost ablaze still you dont feel the heat It takes all you got just to stay on the beat. You say its a livin, we all gotta eat But youre here alone, theres no one to compete. If mercys a busness, I wish it for you More than just ashes when your dreams come true." jacksonbart
Ok, clearly that did not go over big, it was Fire on the Mountain. Here is another try: "Leaves are falling all around, Its time I was on my way. Thanks to you, Im much obliged For such a pleasant stay. But now its time for me to go, The autumn moon lights my way. For now I smell the rain, And with it pain, And its headed my way. Ah, sometimes I grow so tired, But I know Ive got one thing I got to do,"

rplace
Probably this band's most radio played song...though they have a lot of other great ones. Check back to one of my earlier posts if you need help on the band...good chance it is a previous band I have picked as I have little imagination at 4:00pm on a Friday You said you love me and thats a fact Then you left me, said you felt trapped Well some things you can explain away But my heartaches in me till this day Enjoy! Ray Garrison
This might be a stretch... Back in the late 80's I used to hang out in a place called the Grotto in New Haven. Underground bar / club, dark, back room painted black, converted old factory, used to have local bands many nights. Great sound system when the DJ was spinning CD's. Really cool, too bad it closed up and left years ago. I was there one night having a Bombay martini and I heard this, this, uh, this whatever it was coming out of the darkness... One of the eeriest guitar sounds I've ever heard... went running up to the booth to find out what / who it was, went out and bought the CD that night. and they stared at the sand that man knows the sea like the back of his hand he'll be back some time laughing at you and I've been waiting all this time for my man to come, take his hand in mine and lead me away to unseen shores I've been washing the sand with my salty tears searching the shore these long years and I'll walk the sea forever more

Ray Garrison
Sorry about the delay, wasn't online much this weekend... That was Sinead OConnor's first album, The Lion and the Cobra, song was Jackie... complete lyrics: Jackie left on a cold, dark night Telling me he'd be home Sailed the seas for a hundred years Leaving me all alone And I've been dead for twenty years I've been washing the sand with my ghostly tears Searching the shores for my Jackie-oh I remember the day the young man came Said, "your Jackie's gone, he got lost in the rain" And I ran to the beach And laid me down "You're all wrong", I said And they stared at the sand "That man knows that sea like the back of his hand He'll be back some time laughing at you" And I've been waiting all this time For my man to come, take his hand in mine And lead me away To unseen shores I've been washing the sand with my salted tears Searching the shore these long years And I'll walk the sea forever more Till I find my Jackie oh Till I find my Jackie oh Till I find my Jackie oh Jackie oh Jackie oh Jackie oh not sure this will work as a link of not... http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/clipserve/B000003JAW001001/0/103-5929749-7715865 We'll try a much easier one... Smile an everlasting smile, a smile can bring you near to me. Don't ever let me find you down, cause that would bring a tear to me.
