rplace
You posted when I was.....I think I am on it now. Minnesota, Bob Mould, Husker Du....great band...love his single stuff too. Got to figure out the song now. So many of them I know the song but not the title of the song. Candy Apply Gray? Warehouse Stories? Other LP??? That will be final hint. maxg
I can say with some certainty that I have no idea what song this is. It will be interesting to see how many have to pass by before I get another go. I never even heard of the band under discussion - but if it is post 1990 that is no surprise. I am off to listen to music, watch some movies and eat turkey with all of my in laws that are in town for the extended weekend. I think they just might like movies in my HT, what do you think? You all have a safe and happy holiday! Hint (just for Max) it is a Neil Young song [] I expect a good one from you next time I check in. maxg
Tis owned by me Tis owned by me A horse eats it A horse eats it In other words - My my hey hey.....sorry - bit weak that one. OK - let s try something completely different - but before we do - what is it with this forum that each time I post to this thread it seems to go down.... And now some lyrics: Cold and uninviting Partially naked except for toffee wrappers in the morning's papers Mr. Jones got run down Headlines of death and sorrow They tell of tomorrow Madman on the rampage. And I'm..................... Be interesting to see how quickly this one is solved. Not sure how big they got in the US...
Ray Garrison
Hi Max Was that the song from, like, 30 years ago, about the guy who got beat up in the subway? I don't have any idea about who did it or what the title was, but the line about the toffee wrappers kind of stuck in my head...
maxg
You are correct Ray - but no-one else playing? I thought this might be up Sputnik's alley - maybe he is asleep.... I will let a few others have a go and then spill the beans.

maxg
Did I kill this thread or what? OK forget mine - it was "down in the tubestation after midnight" by the Jam. Someone else have a go after getting: "Dont cry daddy.."
Ray Garrison
If you're talking about Elvis' "Don't Cry Daddy" that was one of the saddest songs I've ever heard...
Jeff Matthews
Okay, try this: "Obla Di, Obla Da. Life goes on." [] Ray, it's your turn.
Jeff Matthews
To keep this thread moving, here's the next challenge: "But soon comes Mr. Night, Creepin' over, now his Hand is on your shoulder, Never mind I'll remember you this way." Name that Tune!
Jeff Matthews
I guess Jackson and Ray are out to lunch. This one should be fairly easy. I put this band barely ahead of Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
Ray Garrison
Jeff, I don't know if the "barely ahead of ELP" was a clue to the previous post or not. RE the song with the Mr. Night lyrics, don't think I've ever heard it. As to a band barely ahead of ELP, that would have to be either Atomic Rooster, The Nice or King Crimsom. pauln
Okay, try this: "Obla Di, Obla Da. Life goes on." [] Ray, it's your turn. That's the Beatles' White Album Obla Di, Obla Da A give away winner! Next challenge: may have to "dig" to get this one... It was good what we did yesterday. And I'd do it once again. The fact that you are married, Only proves, you're my best friend. But it's truly, truly a sin.
maxg
"But soon comes Mr. Night, Creepin' over, now his Hand is on your shoulder, Never mind I'll remember you this way." Now that one I know - but cannot remember the actual single (Mr. Blue Sky?) - it is ELO and I think the album is either Discovery or Out of the Blue. I used to LOVE ELO as a teenager - but it has been about 20 years (25?) since I last listened to that. Funnily enough - somewhere in my vinyl rock archive I think I have one or other of those - bought as a stroll down memory lane but somehow I dont think I ever got played. pauln
Close enough, Max - your a winner! Its Pale Blue Eyes by Lou Reed.
maxg
But here comes Mr Night is Pale Blue Eyes? Me thinks not. I assume you are talking to 2 of us at the same time. Anyway - a new lyric....hmmmm...... "there must be more to life, there has to be a way, we can restore to life....the life that we have known."
