Well if you walk the walk, and talk the talk, even trash from Texas can strut away with a bona-fide, 100% free Klipsch t-shirt.

Congratulations are in order for Texas Ron this month's winner.

PM or email me with your shipping info and it will be shipped to you by

this weekend. Sorry Nick, your bad luck continues.

Format's simple: Name of artist or group, name of album, type of

music as best you can (rock, blues etc.), and recording format (cd, lp

etc.)

As usual I'll kick it off with:

Grand Funk Railroad "We're An American Band", classic rock, lp.

What's to say rollicking good rock from a gang of hippie

funksters. Anybody who hasn't heard the title song has never

listened to a radio. Still fun despite that and produced byTodd

Rundgren.

So what do you have to share this week?

It's ok Marty, I'm a patient man...

This week, I recommend:

Deus "Pocket Revolution" - Progressive/Indie/Experiemental/Rock CD.

With a name like "Deus," your music had better live up to the name. Thankfully, this group does. They've been around for quite some time now, and this album is easily their best. Not just because their musicianship, vocals, and song-structures have vastly matured and improved, but this album contains so many different genres, or "flavors" if you will, that it's impossible to pin down what type of rock song they'll be playing next. And believe you me, it's a good thing.

Catchy, dreamy, epic, apocalypic, upbeat, stirring, and head-bobbing are all words that come to mind...

This album is very accessible, for both young and old listeners, and I highly suggest anyone with an open mind and $15 to spare give it a try.

01. Cruel Summer

02. Donnie

03. Whenever You're Near Me

04. Everytime It Rains

05. Adventures In Paradise

06. Don't Go Away

07. Cecilia

08. He Decides

09. Always Have, Always Will

10. Tokyo Girl

11. Travel To Romantis

12. Cruel Summer (Blazin' Rhythm Remix)

Official website

http://www.aceofbase.com/

Ace Of Base is something as uncomplicated as a pop band, that doesnt

try to be, appears to be anything else than that. They want to make

their listeners feel good when hearing their music. They dont have any

heavy messages, even if the songs obviously have become better crafted

and substantial over the years. Simplicity isnt easy. The fact that

Ace of Base has sold over 30 million albums and 15 million singles

proves that they know what theyre doing.

Ace Of Base is one of the worlds biggest bands, one of those rare

bands whose name is a well-known brand wherever in the world you go.

Their fans, so called Acers, also show a passionate interest in the

band. Every year, some of them flew in to Gothenburg from all over the

world to get together, share views and opinions on the band, check out

the studios where the band has recorded and walk the streets where Ace

Of Base grew up.

Greg's Picks: Cruel Summer, Tokyo Girl

Both super hits with a strong rhythm and dance beat that is hard to forget.

Other Ace-Of-Base CD's worth a spin: "The Bridge" and "The Sign".

Grog, I'm astounded you mentioned Ace of Base! I haven't heard that name since the early 90's, when I was in junior-school to early high-school!

Their music is certainly catchy, and for a Swedish group that cannot speak English, well, they certainly had me fooled! A huge phenomenon in their day, they were hailed as the next Abba. I'm not sure if their fame ever quite reached that level, however.

"The Sign" was the song that I remember best from them. That song is like, the soundtrack to my being 12 years-old. Talk about memory lane!

Just to mix it up a bit, I have a jazz recommendation this time.[;)]

Jimmy Smith and Wes Montgomery, "The Dynamic Duo"

This is a KILLER Verve album from 1966 that I believe you can find on CD. I played the LP last night and was blown away as always.

Opens with a version of "Down By The Riverside" that I guarantee is like no other you've heard.

Paul Simon - Graceland

I picked up a pristine LP of Graceland at the local library book sale

yesterday. I knew it was a popular album when it came out in 1986

but I never paid much attention to it - I figured it was just another

pop record and never bothered to give it a listen. It was nice

discovery for me to finally listen to it last night. I guess I

finally caught up to the rest of the world and now I know how great

this album is.

Cher - Believe - CD

Still her greatest work to date.

01 Believe

02 The Power

03 Runaway

04 All or Nothing

05 Strong Enough

06 Dov'é l'Amore

07 Takin' Back My Heart

08 Taxi Taxi

09 Love Is the Groove

10 We All Sleep Alone

While the song Believe is well known many of the other songs on this CD show the depth Cher.

Dov'é l'Amore has a spanish influence with great acoustic guitar.

Yes this CD is distictively Cher but at her best.
