We've been getting dumped on!!

I'm on the west coast of Michigan, right on the lake. We've had a a

couple of "dumpings" already including a big one over

Thanksgiving. We had 12-18 inches over a couple of days. The Monday

after Thanksgiving we had rain and 60 degrees. Everything gone in 24

hours. Since then it's the typical lake effect experience......1-3

inches per day until who knows when....April? Real funky weather here.

2 feet of snow and whiteout conditions in one area. Drive 15-20 miles

in another direction....NOTHING.

Sput, I am Jealous too!!!!![:(]

I would love to live where it smows allot. I lived in Bangor Maine for 2 years and loved it.

Enjoy your play time.

What kind of snow play toys do you have???

Steve

The only toys are about 5 pairs of skis (two pairs of alpine skis,

climbing and AT gear, and telemark and cross country gear) and some old

ice climbing gear. Nothing with a motor, but we are thinking of

getting a snowmobile to access more backcountry skiing. We have

three great ski areas anywhere from 20 to 40 miles away but today we're

just

going to head up to Yellowstone for some cross country and telemark

skiing. The snow is great now and will cover the ground til

spring but by about early March cabin fever sets in and I'll be jealous

of anyone near a beach.

Well, we are getting dumped on right now right here in good ol' Virginia! Looks like there is a good 4 inches on the ground, with more still coming down! That is a pretty decent amount of snow for this area. Of course, not anything like what I am used to from living in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, though.

Uh, just a question from someone who lives in SoCal and as such doesn't

deal much with the white wet stuff. Wouldn't it be quicker to "burn"

that stuff off instead of shoveling it? To me, a nice 3 foot long flame

from a "weed burner" would melt that stuff right quick. I could be

wrong as that white stuff is not a common thing here but I thought I

would ask. There would be a low risk of starting a fire, NO?

We moved into our house in late May and the neighbors told us the previous owners would leave their garage door open all night when it snowed like that and point a barn warmer down the driveway and melt the snow off as it hit the driveway. When they went out the next morning, the driveway was spotless.

My wife is hassling me to get one because our driveway is steep.

I'll have to look into it.

I'm in Omaha this week and it was 6 degrees below zero when I left the hotel this morning and the rental car didn't have an ice scraper and the windshield washer fluid was frozen.

We're going to Beaver Creek in March and Hawaii in July. I'm beginning to rethink the Beaver Creek trip.

I live in Northeast Ohio - between Cleveland and Erie. Every winter storm brings all the Cleveland reporters out to show just how bad it is. We're looking for another 8-12 inches tonight and tomorrow - with probably 30 inches already on the ground! Any of you snow romantics that think this is fun, I will trade my house and system (6.1 Legend series with nice vinyl rig - sorry, no tubes yet), for your warm weather abode for a week in January. That will give you all you need to know about the white stuff. I bet you'll call the deal off after clearing my driveway just once!

Man that's a beautiful property Steve. Makes me long for the old family farm where I lived for 8 years. At least I get good snow removal in the city and the grocery is 1 mile down the road instead of venturing into 'town'.

Indy is supposed to get accumulation Wednesday beginning at noon. They're saying 6-10 inches. And I never got my attic insulated this fall. This is going to get expensive.
