anarchist
vol1 & vol2 are both good albums and I have listened to both so many times it is incredible. if you want to really be blown away, watch the video for "la tortura" and be prepared to have very, um, impure thoughts. i enjoy her music very much, there are some wonderfully poetic and insightful lyrics, and she is simply one of the hottest women in music (or anything else) today combining looks, style, and dancing like no other. the first song on vol2 references the creator and asks some philosophical questions hence the opportunity to have the gratuitous cover... woodsman
Surprised to see so many have not hear of Shakira before. She has been in the mainstream for about 5yrs now. Pretty good belly dancer, no, awesome belly dancer, yes. This girl has some serious talent. I prefer her music over Diana Krall anyday. Not to offend anyone, Krall bores me to death. Not saying she is not talented and has a great voice, just not my taste in music. Shakira is the real deal in the type of music she does. This girl will be around for awhile. ranjith
The word Shakira in arabic apparently means "woman full of grace" . And, oh, shes quite short at 5'2!
Tom Adams
Am I the only one that noticed the grimacing face in the lower portion of the tree bark on that Vol. 2 cover? Anyhow.....yeah, she's eye candy. But as friend of mine use to say, "Tom....the grass is definitely always greener on the other side of the hill. But it still needs mowing." Daddy Dee
I've wondered if the baby with outstretched hand is supposed to be: A. the serpent who has just let go of the apple.. or B. the man who is reaching for the apple
Moderators Amy Posted December 9, 2005 Moderators Share Posted December 9, 2005 Doesn't matter to me one way or the other, but what does matter to me is why Paul insists on starting new threads that will undoubtedly end in controversy. I feel as though I'm being challenged.

Jimmy James
Now this is a good example of what we "hillbillys" refer to as "big city high brow". I'm sure there's some connection with talk like this and 2-channel audio, but I'm just too much of a hillbilly to get it

You guys sure like giving him the attention and giving your two cents worth about his threads, making filthy comments and such, until you get caught doing it. Then it's "not me, not me!" "he did it, he did it!".
BillH2121
I think its extremely important at this time to support Paul's freedom of speech and expression. It should be apparent to all who view that album cover that it is important, socially relevant art chocked full of symbolism. I intend to stare at it for hours until I am certain that I have gleaned every symbolic image from that picture. And should I stare at it so long that the image burns into my computer screen - so be it!! That's the sacrifice I'm willing to make to preserve fine art. jacksonbart
I think Jimmy James is another one of Pauls pseudonyms (aka Parrot), just like Julieheartklipsch. He is correct in regards to his opinions to the quality of LPs and SACDs, but he must have a lot of free time on his hands.

edwinr
It's interesting to note, Paul may start threads, but it is others who lose the plot and forget their age. [] I think Paul has a unique sense of humor that is lost on most that read his threads. Simply posting a thread relating to an album cover shouldn't elicit the invective responses I've seen on this forum. It's like throwing a rock into a pool. Watch the ripples. I find myself laughing at his posts more often than not. For me, it is a refreshing change from those on this forum who take themselves a bit too seriously. I have even read where one particular individual understands jazz "at a deeper level," whatever that means. David
