edwinr
As bookshelf speakers go, these Acoustic Energy AE1 MkIII's are okay...
edwinr
But the original AE1 is still available. It started out as a no compromise studio moniitor. It's a very good speaker for those that want a very high power handling mini monitor...

Klipschguy
Forget it. I tried to post a picture of some total crap Fisher speakers from the 1980's, but I couldn't get the picture to post correctly (it just shows one of those little computer image tricolored boxes with an X in it). Anyway, so much for joking around. Andy
Mark Hardy
"My list would include my favorite, still to this day, Allison Ones. " Can't say they are my faves, but I am pleased to own a pair! I haven't seen mention of a couple of my all-time favorites: Altec Voice of the Theatre (e.g., A7). Altec AlNiCo 604 duplex drivers (e.g., 604B) Quad "57" electrostatics (I finally have acquired a pair of these) KEF 105 Edgarhorn Titan (PS I have no idea why the spacing of the above is so whacky)

edwinr
What about these Pipedreams? Maybe I'd give up my Summits for these...
edwinr
The Totem Arro. These things are so tiny, you'd laugh if you hadn't seen them before. But they sound awesome. Unfortunately, they quickly run out of steam in larger rooms...
edwinr
The Klipsch RB5. One of the best bookshelf speakers you can buy. They go loud and sound very, very good...
edwinr
Another outstanding bookshelf speaker. The Loth-z Amaze. It's a shame that Loth-x has stopped manufacturing at the moment - but you can still buy their stuff through Loth-x USA...
boom3
I'm surprised no one mentioned the Dahlquist DQ-10s. I have not heard as many speakers (recently) as I'd like, and I don't trust much to audio memory. If I had to rank the DQ-10s it would be near the bottom of a short list, not even 10. The original Beveridge is the only speaker I felt could top the Klipschorn. I think the Beveridges are being made again, albeit improved. Price/performance, the Klipschorns are still the bargain of the high-end.
Colin
My favorites would have to be the few special super dream systems I have heard: <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Nearfield Pipedreams Advantegarde Trios Martin Logan Summits All of them coupled to equipment costing as much as a small house. Since I auditioned the Classic Audio Reproductions Cinema Ensemble and loved it, probably would include their mammoth Hartsfield reproduction too.
