thebes
Oh boy am I a nasty liar. Sure there're free, to me, because I already own them. I have 11 sealed albums left right now. Since getting back into vinyl I've opened about a half-dozen others. I really have only opened two of them. The Twins hate unopened packages of any kind. They can't even leave packaged groceries alone. It's called the Tiffany Syndrome. Whenever they spot an unsealed one in a pile of new acquisitions, Tawny's extra-long and extra sharp fingernails always seem to inadvertently slide down the shrinkwrap. Tickles usually covers for her sibling with an exclamation along the lines of "Oh, goodness just how did that happen? accompanied by a flip of her blonde trusses and mischievous grin. It's become sort of a game. So next to the Christmas tree there will be a sealed lp amongst a pile of various vinyl. I've cleverly accumulated 11 unopened ones, secretly stashed where they will never look: last season's dress styles. The question is which one. That's where my fellow Klipschters come in. Here's the list. You decide. As they say in politics, vote early and vote often. Third World, "Hold On To Love" Jim Croce, "The Faces I've Seen" (looks like a double album) Tony Bennett, "If I Ruled the World, Songs for the Jet Set" Schooner Fare, "Day of the Clipper" Johnny Cash, "Folsom Prison Blues" Barbara Streisand, "Featuring the Way We Were and All in Love is Fair" Billy Joel, "An Innocent Man" Jimmy Collier and Rev. Frederick Douglas Kirkpatrick, "Everybody's Got a Right to Live" (looks like 1968 political speeches and poetry) Philadelphia Orchestra, "Tchaikovsky Swan Lake Ballet Suite and Sleeping Beauty Ballet Suite", Columbia Bill Schusuk, "Songs, Stories and Chanteys from America's Great Maritime Adventure" "Reflections" compilation with various singers like Dinah Shore, Pearl Bailey, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee etc.

thebes
what ...??? no .. "Bread" .. "the Carpenters" ..?? Hmmmmnnnnnn..... Hey with sealed albums it's the luck of the draw. I think it's simply amazing that you can still find them on occasion. I always buy them out of principle, plus they're usually only a buck. Oh and don't worry Scotto that hair flip trick only works for the first 400 or 500 times,. Ater that you develop some resitance. Well sort of. So is Indy the only one who wants to make my Christmas merrier?
capo72
Johnny Cash, "Folsom Prison Blues". I love that album. Wait, better yet don't open it. I have a well worn copy I will gladly trade you and you can spare the twins the grief! Jeremy

3dzapper
If you want to take the twins to bed, Tony Bennett, "If I Ruled the World, Songs for the Jet Set". If you want to send the twins off to bed and be alone, Jimmy Collier and Rev. Frederick Douglas Kirkpatrick, "Everybody's Got a Right to Live" (looks like 1968 political speeches and poetry). Your choice.[] Rick

Yes, I get such a kick out of watching these old stackers. It has an old GE mono cartridge in great shape. From what I read it's supposed to track at about 4 grams. It runs very quiet and sounds pretty nice. I stacked up some records I wasn't real concerned about and a great time listening without having move every 20 minutes (just like one of the new fangled ceedee players). What did I do? Took it all apart and put it back together again, cleaning and lubing along the way. The motor was the biggest culprit. Just dried out and gunky. A great project, thanks again for hooking me up with it.

thebes
Scotto, glad you're getting enjoyment out of it sure does look nice. Clarence, the stuff I got from Amy is still being handedout every month in the Members Weekly Music Recommendations ongongthread down in DVD's/Music/Entertainment. Old Buckster was thelatest winner in the monthly drawing. Before that I was handingout Klipsch t-shirts which I was paying for out of my own pocket. At $20 a pop plus shippng, plus shipping them to the winners it startedadding up after about 18 months or so, so Amy was kind enough to offerup some free goodies. But the sealed albums are for me and mine, not giving them out. Just trying to share the pleasure ofcraking open virgin viynl. So what do you think I should open?
