brian berube
I know there are a number of posts about things to listen to but I wanted to start fresh. I just purchased a Sansui 1000 tube amp and I want to know what should be the first thing I play. I have '64 Klipschorns and '70 Cornwalls. What would put a smile on the face of a 51 year old? I'm generally a rock 'n roller, who likes it loud, but don't let that slow you down. If I don't have it, I'll get it; any genre. Looking forward to everyone's response. As always, thanks. jcmusic
Brian try listening to your all time favorite song first, and then go from there. Jay

Audible Nectar
I would go with the title track from Steely Dan's "Aja". That's the standard first cut here when sampling anything new[Y]

Tarheel
Santana "Abraxas"...Mark Knopfler "Shangrila" or Sonny Rollins "Saxaphone Colossus". All three should keep you grinning. Chuck
sheltie dave
And if if has not been rebuilt, the second thing is to get it to a good tech bench and get it sorted. Gordon Lightfoot sounds great on Klipsch with tubes, also![]
33klfan
Dire Straits Sultans of Swing is a no brainer. It's my first pick to test a system.
