DrWho
Hmmm...that begs the question - what is the difference between the DE75 and the K69? I take it the K69 is the better choice for home? I wonder how something like the new DE1050 would compare: http://www.bcspeakers.com/index.php?sez=1&categoria=4&id_descrizione=46&prodotto=174 http://www.bcspeakers.com/download/prodotti/PDF/DE1050.pdf (the ME60 is an 800Hz horn versus the 500Hz horn that the DE75 is advertised with)

Guest " "
I give up. Looks like I'll go with JBL componets from PartsExpress. The spec's are clearly defined and there's no question on the availability. Even if I go top of the line across the board with the JBL stuff....I'm still far below what the Klipsch theater sales person wants to charge me. If your not in the club, and know all the secret hand shakes, you have to buy complete systems to get the raw componets others are getting, posting on this forum, and in discussions with klipsch staff. I may be having a going out of Klipsch sale soon with my 1985 Khorns, 2004 LaScalas, and 3 pairs of Heresy's.
michael hurd
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=294-415 http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=294-425 Let's see.... JBL 2446 at $ 490 each, and the horns at $ 279 each. That adds up to $ 1538, or more than triple the 500 hz horn PAIR with drivers from Klipsch. Oh well... I think that you will have no trouble selling your used K-horns, lascalas and heresy's here.
Guest " "
michael hurd I'm getting total pricing from the Klipsch theater products dealer in the 4K a pair realm for a 3 way system. I stepped thru the JBL pricing at PartsExpress and can easily beat that, even going top of the line JBL.
sfogg
Partsexpress does not sell top of the line JBL. Price out the JBL 435BE and the 045BE mid and tweeter for example. Shawn
Guest " "
Partsexpress sells various JBL drivers...I'm comparing the top of the line of what JBL they do offer....obviously.

PrestonTom
SF, I am empathetic with your struggle in trying to get information on the driver and horns. The JBL specs are difficult to read (at least the PDF I saw). For instance, the distortion measures are not at all clearly labelled. If I am reading them right (and there is a good deal of guess work due to the image), the distortion does no measure all that well. However, I have never seen comparable measures for the Klipsch (510 or 402 with a K69 driver). Obviously one would be interested in this information. Klipsch has been pretty good about the FR & dispersion characteristics for the 402 (on the forum somewhere) was there comparable detailed specs for the 510 listed somewhere? I have not seen any distortion measures however. As a tweaker and DIYer on a limited budget, the specs do matter to me. Testimonials are not sufficient at this price point. Good Luck, -Tom
Guest " "
PrestonTom There are plots all over the place on the forum....none are produced by Klipsch....and all are basically variations in room dynamics. There are even plots posted by folks who don't own, and perhaps never even heard a set of Jubilees.
