Bruce For what it is worth from a lover the bass reflex impact, I always heard that "woody" sound from my Khorns of decades past. Granted, lacking in LF depth, I never heard that from my LaS centers or rears. Always thought that the speed/quickness of the LaScalla bins was too fast for the sound to be very woody. Great gear always solves problems, but if ESN's tame the savage beast in a CW bin, (and they do), they might be the answer for a Tubby-Woody horn loaded bass bin. Just an un-educated thought. tc

mike stehr
I think he's refering to the ALK extreme slope networks.......It is rough figuring out the abbreviations around here......yikes....
ka7niq
I think he's refering to the ALK extreme slope networks.......It is rough figuring out the abbreviations around here......yikes.... Now, that makes sense ? I have my 'own version' of the ALK 'extreme slope networks'. It is called a Rane 24 db per octave electronic crossover. I might give it a try between the folded horn woofers and the mids ? Maybe leave the tweeter crossover passive ? Or, I could just use it on the upper roll off of the woofer, and leave all else passive ? Not so sure it is gonna help me though ? From what I read, all us folded horn owners are screwed because our stock horns only go down so far ? Sure, I could roll the folded horn woofer off really fast, but w/o a horn/driver to play down low, what is the point ? I just missed out on some big CD Horns that will play down below 300hz! I could fly em from the ceiling right above the folded horn cabinets until divorce is imminent I guess ? Before she leaves me I can say "But Honey, now I won't even need tweeters"
garymd
Sorry for the acronyms. After a while around here, you just assume everyone know what you're talking about. Thanks for helping out guys.
Duke Spinner
You guys must hear it, don't you ? It can really color up low end of some voices, and almost sounds like a thud on some bass lines All three pairs of Khorns I owned had it, and so did the Belles. The SpeakerLab SK's have it too, and it drives me nuts. What is it, where is it coming from, and IS it possible to get rid of it w/o EQ ? lower the crossover to 200 some hertz ..... and obvoiusly, change the mid horn ... Hey Duke, Sold The JBL L 7's, the VMPS RM 40's, and the Von Schweikert VR 4 JR's since we last talked. Picked up some Polk SRS 2's and some Infinity Preluder PFR's, and of course the SpeakerLab SK's. It is my opinion you need to find a Luxman M 117 amp for the L 7's, it was by far the best amp on them. Oh, also sold some SansuiSP 5500X Kabuki Speakers too

I love my Luxman M 117 . I am always on the lookout for Cornwall 2's locally.' DJK suggested them, and he was right about the old Forte's IMO. I liked the old Forte's a lot, just too small physically for my room. They looked "lost" in here. How did you find out about the Luxman M 117's ? Please do not tell anyone till I find another one ? jwc
tc. Is the stain on that cabinet really that red or is it the stain of bloodshot in my eye? If you are going to deliver a photo showing the rarity of two Luxman 117's, then you should also show the rarity of ESN's in/on a Cornwall....I think you are the only one with that too. jc
IB Slammin
Ka7, I bought the first one new for retail. A few years later, the store called me and said that they had taken one on "trade in" for a big HT system. I broke the speed limit to get to audio store, and walked out with number two for............$250.00.[] Stop! Thief!! tc

The cab is an old RCA console that had many layers of gloss black paint. I stripped it find dark burl walnut. Ka7, ........until divorce is imminent I guess...... IB Slammin
She,s not that blind....She knew she married a great guy. Maron, after 37 years, she might argue that point. Lynn is much, much older than me. I was a child when she................well, today law forbids such things. (in most states) 37 years ago I focused on a pair. Today, the focal point is her pair of golden ears. I swear, I can change a cap and she asks "what's different"? Critical Bi%&h! Big smile. tc Edit: Man, if she ever reads some of this stuff....... You dogs, You and Maron are just making fun of me, and giving me a hard time. As I recall, my dowry consisted of a '68 Impala Super Sport, a '70 Sportster,(soon sold) the clothes on my back, AND two ba$tard two-way Klipsch Model H, with Dyna Pas 4 pre, Dynakit ST 120's, and an AR turntable. Marvel
This is making me laugh so hard! My wife had some crap Sound Design receiver... in her dorm room. I soon had a pair of JBL 4311s. What a journey it was with her. I know she would have liked the LS sitting in the living room now. Can't believe how much I miss her sometimes.
