gaspr
Has anyone here tried this program? It is a 3D modeling program that Google is offering for free. I have been fooling with it for a week or two and have found it to be an incredibly powerful tool. Bit of a learning curve...I bought the "Sketchup for Dummies" book and I highly recommend it. I am attaching a drawing of one of my first projects.

filmboydoug
I keep this handy because one of these days I'm gonna find four 18" JBL drivers at goodwill for $5 each.

gaspr
To get a good idea of what can be done with Sketchup, go to this site. Aidan Chopra, the author of the "Dummies" book, set up this site with some links to video tutorials.

Actually, they were a great company to work for, but I had exhausted my opportunities there for my background... besides, who could resist a chance to work for KLIPSCH?? Marvel
My nephew is an engineer for Sketchup. He started working for them right before they were purchased by Google. His engineering degree is in lighting design, and I think they hired him to work on the rendering engine. Now he is manager on one of the projects. A very cool program. And, no, he can't get me a good price on any of the software (the big package is $495) Bruce

Many of us would be interested in hearing more about it, perhaps on its own thread. Good Luck, -Tom

gaspr
Thanks Mark. Been using the program for about a month now. Lots of good instruction available at youtube and brightcove. Just do a search for "sketchup tutorial"
