  1. Good morning my friends! Just read through a page here before heading off to worker bee land.. I remember the Silver 7 amp when it was introduced some years ago!, always so impressive looking and you would need a hand cart to move them around..........kind of like the big Krells, a dolly is a MUST! Anyway, speaking of stories.... it is time to introduce the one your have been waiting for... As you may or may not know, I am playing in a 9 piece Neil Diamond tribute (show) band which was started back in 2000 and has like many groups, gone through various member changes over the years. But, right now, it is at it's BEST ever... We play all year long now, when it used to be just summer concerts 'on the green' type shows in different states here in the North East... Our highlight of the year is playing a two night concert in a local theater for subscribers (always a full house both evenings)... Our front man and leader/singer of this group managed to make connections with members of Neil Diamond's band and we were very fortunate to have King Errisson (Neils very own percussionist of some 30 years now!) join us on that stage along with our own percussionist. That happened in two seasons there and a great experience. King loved our lineup at the time and even mentioned that he liked some of our arrangements of Diamond's music over some things they were doing! VERY high compliment.' To end that show, we learned one of King's own tunes "Mountains of Love" and used one of their LIVE concert arrangements for our show closer / encore with our man Kenny and King trading vocals. It was a really thrill for us AND the audience.. OK............that is the introduction.........I will continue up to the present and it all starts from this local theater Enjoy the day and the music.... .........Gary

  3. Morning gang..... It's a cold 20° out this morning.....coffee is good for sure.... Can't wait for more Gary.....that's some really cool stuff..... Just got back from picking the grandkids up from the BOSS's parents house. We have to pick them up in the mornings to get the school bus at our house. With my eldest daughter now living with mom to look after her we have a few rings of fire we have to jump through. A few days out of the week the BOSS has to stay with mom while my daughter goes to college. My daughter has cut her classes in half so she can take care of mom.... Ya know it was just over four years ago that my eldest daughter was lost to the streets of Baltimore. She went missing when she was about 22 for a life heroin addiction. Me and the BOSS were at a point of our lives were we knew we was going to get a phone call to identify a body. But my daugter made it back from the madness.... very few recover from heroin....most are 6' under... my daughter and I are very close we share one thing in common "addiction" we have our little meetings.....and she tells me how "sick" I am with all the speakers and amps I own....lol lol All is good....doing what we gotta do.......and speaking of that, I gotta roll..... Check-in later... MKP :-)

  4. If seems that Rita closed up shop when Bob Carver formally started up the company (that Emotiva bought him out of a couple years later) that was formally selling a version of the tube amps he was selling on eBay. Do any of the Emotiva guys know what happened with that deal? Bob did start up another company selling tube amps again. http://www.bobcarvercorp.com/ They are super cool... I think some of Bobs new tube amps are some BIG Watt mono amps.... I thought I saw some putting out 300+ watts... Bob is a super cool guy... over the years I've sent him a few e-mails- no tech stuff just some friendly conversation- and he has got back to me each time... One time he told me a story when he met PWK... really cool story. He also goes down to the Carver fest in Tenn. each year to meet the forum member's of the Carver Site.. I would like to do that one year.... But this year I'm going to Hope!!! Yea baby.... MKP :-)

  8. Evening gang Voxx @ $3.52 today, well that could be better, ever since iv had this stock iv never thought of selling, however when you are making plans for your next life move, Ya kind of want to start getting things dialed in. iv got a year and two months to wait for Voxx to buy out someone else, that should be enough time for this stock to recover. Iv been very well off twice, but I was NOT looking, now by god IM watching! Research and shopping all day on the Bay, bid on a couple, offers pending Nothing to do with Two Channel however, I think im covered here for awile I do believe Crab is on the venue this evening. Good to see AKDave checking in.

  10. Congrats Gary, that's quite a compliment from an original band member. I would love to see one of your shows live in person. I grew up listening to a lot of Neil's music back in the 70s from a couple of my older brothers and a cousin, they were huge fans. My cousin actually named his son Neil and his middle name Diamond! Good luck and keep on rockin

  12. That's my point--Hardly ever have I seen the most respected, long time members promote paying the higher price. Respected long time members will often say "this speaker is worth the price because of x y z" frequently. People also like to brag when they get a good deal but putting that info in someone else's for sale thread is the wrong thing to do.

  21. Thanks Dave! I was up to Alaska a number of years back for 19 days during the summer. Do you live anywhere near any good moose hunting and/or caribou by chance Roger Yes very near especially for moose! Dave....... , BUDDY!!, I know this big, dumb bastard, that ate moose meat at his uncles two years in a row when he was a kid, and thought it was the best tasting stuff ever! This guy went to his family reunion every year, and there was a large moose head hung over the fire place in the pavilion, and every year, a mouse would come out of that moose heads ear and scurry around, and run back into the ear. This punk kid always thought, I want to kill and eat my own Bull Moose some day. Fast forward to today; This kid is 51 years old. He has still never shot a bull moose! He has several 7mm Remington Magnums, and has killed a white tail deer at 589 yards, but has never had a chance to kill that darn moose. Dave, I'd like you to come to Hope, Arkansas in May, so you can meet this guy in person! Dave, it is truly a sad story Perhaps a story you could help change for the better Truly hope you can make it to Hope Rog

A while ago I picked up a second-hand pair of one of his early builds of the Cherry 180 mono blocks (about 205 watts output each). To me, they sound very similar to the Marantz 8b. At some point I would like to attend a Carver fest and also would like to do the Burning amp fest in California that Nelson Pass speaks at. It is kind of a long shot, but I would also like to go to Hope this year for the Klipsch pilgrimage. "Hope"fully everything aligns......

  27. Dave, man, I would love to do that while I am still young enough to pack out that much meat The biggest problem I will have is deciding what to shoot one with, but that is a good problem What kind of shots can you expect where you hunt? What range? Brush? I for one, would love for you to post some pictures on here! rog

  28. Roger, I would love to make the Hope trip someday! Almost pulled it off last year and had to bail. I have SOME pics of critters over the past few years. We got skunked this last year sadly and the freezer is empty. We LOVE moose for everything now (spaghetti, tacos, burgers, etc) it's a great and healthier beef substitute. My wifes family are lifelong hunters, my dad only fished so I've only been on the actual hunt twice now over the past two seasons. (Though I finished off many a moose as a police officer on the roads). Anyway - war stories (that are building!) over a beer or two, with good music from good speakers in great company sounds like a blast, I hope to get there at some point, pun intended. If I can't make it - maybe I can talk the bro and father in law into taking an outsider on this next years hunt. It's real work, but the setting couldn't be better. The fall colors are over the top that time of year!

  36. Morning gang Catching up on the forum fair. Big Stew talking about the "Standard OC" life style, everyone goes through it. The survivors get the hell out, at any/all cost. First cup down, going for the second Hobby project engineering/shopping for the day. Maybe a Nap, onward to another rough day. Farm run Friday, sighting in the new scope on my 17 as well as the farmers. 70s predicted for the next 7 days.

  37. Some people just want something for nothing. All it takes is a deal or two where a seller doesn't know what they have or just has zero interest in the speakers and want them gone. Suddenly every other offering out there at a fair price is now a joke in the buyers eyes. We have more than a couple like that here.

  38. Great news Gary, thanks for sharing that...proud of you for your success! Mark -- super good report about your daughter. I won't go into detail; but, sounds as if we've walked down similar paths in life. Not fun; but, God's grace & mercy got me through it. I make fun of my drug past; but, i can say it is heartbreaking to look at someone you love and realize that person is gone and you have no idea who is standing before you. I feel guilty wondering how many sleepless nights I put my Mom through. So happy that your story has a happy ending. Carl -- it may come as a surprise; but, every once in a while i say to myself "Steve -- shut up." I remember years ago taking an IQ test...scored 134, which doesn't make me the smartest person in the room; but, not the dumbest either...so I will take my own advice on this one. Don't worry--regardless of the topic, there will be more stories or comments. Did i ever tell you about the time that I ...

  43. she says that all the time. in the last couple years she was really down on herself because she was 31, living with her parents (and her kids) when she 'should' be like the other single moms that are working and juggling 2 kids and school and rent and groceries, etc "i'm such a piece of sh*t" we would constantly tell her that "it takes a village" and just let it be'' "you are taking college courses for your future" nothing was good enough NOW - at least since january 8 - she says NOW I KNOW WHY ....if i had a job and a lease and lived far away, i would have quit my job, abandoned my lease and brought my kids to live with mom BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE I NEED TO BE. this was god's plan all along. she always called my mother 'mom' and i have always been 'mommy.' yup - 31 and still calling me 'mommy.' it works. life really is remarkable. never say never. my mother was always her favorite person in the world. they are so silly together - always have been. there is so much laughter in mom's house. it keeps mom's life stimulating, and laughter IS the best medicine. on my 50th birthday, she posted( n my facebook) an old pic of me holding her when she was first born. i will quote her words but will edit some of the 'color' out...and you have to read it phonetically...kids today (30 yrs old) This is me and u about 30 yrs ago, ur strength n love is what kept me in a stable loving home growing up, ur teaching me these things along w others such as bein stubborn, totally self sufficient when necessary and jus overall BEING A SURVIVOR NO MATTER WHAT is what kept me alive all the years I was gone.. today u r 50 FKIN YRS OLD n our family is all alive n healthy, crazy as ever n most importantly UNITED... We r truly blessed.. I know that Ricky watches over u w such pride, n ur parents r so proud, u r truly their success story bc much like me u were the bad one, but as we know THE BAD ONES R THE MOST LOYAL N DEPENDABLE... I love u mommy, my kids n I r so lucky to have u... yup...when this girl puts her mind to it, she can move mountains. and we all live one day at a time. she has the strength of my mother. and the mouth of a sailor (or mechanic...or his wife...)

  46. Don't kill the Moose! The Canadian Moose make good beer! Stew this guy has been thinking about killing moose for a good, very many years and has good news for you! Were you aware that there are actually, scientifically 3 separate sub species of Moose in North America? One sub species live predominately in the lower 48, a second lives predominately in Canada, and a third lives primarily in Alaska, and do you know what? Each sub species of North American Moose gets larger, the farther North you head So, the Canadian Moose are safe, as they are entirely different that the moose that this big dumb bastard wants to eat Roger

  48. If I list stuff in the Garage Sale section I usually list it a lower price than I would on Craig's List, just seems like the right way for me. If I want top dollar, Ebay, Audiogon, or CL. Not guidelines for anyone else, I just think this is a friendly place and like to encourage that.
