  1. I'm surprised I made it past it. Actually, a lot of other people were too. Yea for real... That was the age I stopped drinking and drugging.... getting in fights.... getting locked up........going through a divorce.....then waking up in the hospital with half my left hand ripped off.... Hmmmm maybe I got a problem Lucky I made to 28........ I met The BOSS when I was 27 and even after going through all that I was still drinking...... She was the best thing that ever happened to me..... and I knew if I kept on the same path I would loose her too..... with the help of the court system I got some help.... funny, that was 27 years ago.... I'll be 54 this June 1st and that's when I stopped drinking.... MKP :-)

  2. You are to be commended MKP. Getting on top of any addiction is difficult. My older sister and a good friend were both unable to conquer their respective alcohol problems. Each had the motivation of a new grandchild, but that was not enough. They were unable to see that alcohol made their problems more difficult to address, not easier to endure.

  3. Well..... maybe a "slight" exaggeration on my part While the Chorus are chest pounders...........the JBL's are foundation shakers I should have said the JBL's make the Chorus sound like a Heresy.... Here they are............ MKP :-)

  4. You caught on at a younger age than I did, Mark. It's been 21 yrs for me and I stopped in June as well. We need to talk off line one of these days. There is indeed a life after booze. Chuck

  5. Very well done. I had a pair of those Chorus, drove all the way to Eugene to fetch them @ an ebay price of $500, just sold them to a youngin just getting into audio for 3Bones. Seeing where i am now, these never stood a chance for my listening pleasure. The wife ask just the other day, are WE done yet? Well babe, im good for the momment.

  8. You are to be commended MKP. Getting on top of any addiction is difficult. +1 doesn't go far enough. I have a lot of respect for you not only for beating the alcohol, but for having the courage to talk about it.

  9. Yeah well same here. In the OC, later days, being a sheriff, talking to other sheriff's, same story. We would just end up speechless as to our childhood(s).

  10. I have a 20 year old daughter. Her, and her Mom, my wife, would freak out if they knew even 1% of the stuff I did in my younger days. Life was easier back then.

  12. It's ironic you picked the age of 27. There's a whole group of rockers/musicians that died at 27. I posted the list around here somewhere a couple years ago.

  13. I get flu shot every year for as long as i can remember -- they've never made me sick. Doctor told me with my Asthma, that i should get one. Had a cousin, in her 20s, normal health -- died from the flu. Many get a bad cold and call it the flu--the actual influenza is some serious stuff...nothing to be messed with. Get your shot...not just for yourself; but, those around you. @wvu80 Dave, I'll give you the shot if it will make you feel better ... you can trust me, i can successfully remove an appendix in the beginner and intermediate levels of the computer game Life & Death. Don't do as well, with the advanced cases. Feel better Chuck.

  16. MKP's dad is CRAZY ... he talks like Ozzy Osbourne with all the stutters and self-interruptions in a cockney-type accent that -- even after 28 years -- i do not know wtf this man is saying!! BALLS OF STEEL. this pic from many, many moons ago at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore MD. Dave is the one reaching back at high speed in the mud -- like he is getting a cup of tea...CRAZY. Did this job 30+ years.

  20. After re-reading your anser, i finely figured out you are talking about Mr Crow T Robot from the Tv series Mystry Science theater 3000. There is a guy on the Bay who sells complete kits for Crow and his buddy "Servo". Sledgeriprock is the dealers name on the bay, iv never bought a complete kit, i buy mine in pieces, more fun. Show Mark this blog, and see if we can work on your very own "Crow T Robot", he can PM me as to what it takes. The Crows i build are full motion talking/head/mouth/eye movement, The Rv project has kept me busy this year so iv built no crow this year, but id be happy to build a static crow display just for you guys. P.S. There is a Cult following behind MST3000 and it's robots not unlike Klipsch.

  30. My Dad was old school and had not missed a day of work in 30 years, he just didn't get sick. Since he was older my Mom convinced him to get a flu shot one year. He had all the symptoms you described, he was sick, nauseous and missed work the next day. I don't get flu shots.

  31. This! Looking at an image of the back panel of the Yam RS202 it appears there is no phono input for a turntable, so the recvr lacks the proper circuitry to boost the low-level input voltage coming from your turntable cartridge, hence the low volume of your "shy" R26F speakers. You will need to add a phono preamp between your turntable and the recvr to bring listening volume up to "normal levels." Hope that helps.

  32. Morning gang Wet and break from rain, more rain on the way. Just tried to get the daughter a klipsch acct, must be a conflict of IP address, she could not do it. She might do another 6Mo stint on the Boat, then moving to Dublin, where upon arriving i told her i would send her Some Heresy's and some kind of self contained receiver. She likes Klipsch. Monday eh? Nothing planned, i like that. Second cup is due.......

  43. Morning/Afternoon all, It's been a few days. Just catching up on all the posts. MAN!..... Gary, I'm really sorry I missed the gathering for Boxx over RTM... I should have checked in Friday to see whats going down on the forum..... YEA...... for real ricieb.... It kills me as they zoom into a pic of there foot in a slushy puddle and tell everyone to bundle up and rive careful...... yea no Chitt Sherlock... and now the news that we watch is gonna be starting at 4:30am.... what the...... let me tell ya..... at 4:30 MKP is sleeping with Stoney at my feet.... Cold Cold Cold for sure!!!! Did I say COLD.... We are also in the grip of this Arctic Air mass that seems to over most of the country.... Were right at nice 18* right now. The predicted high is 20* this afternoon. We didn't get a whole lot of snow. maybe a inch or two.... but the Southern part of the state and the ocean got up to a foot. That's weird stuff... Yesterday The BOSS and I worked in the house.... we put away the x-mas stuff and got the basement fixed up a bit. We are still weeding through crapp. Crapp that's been piling up for years.... Also were getting the empty rooms together..... The BOSS's dad past away one year ago today..... and our one daughters room and her to kids rooms are the same as they were when they left a year ago to live with The BOSS's mom. It's not total chaos.... just stuff that needs to go. We got the main living area of the basement done... put up our new 55" Samsung TV..... chilled out on the futon with Stoney and Boney and the fire blazing Speaking of fire... man I've burned some wood this year..... I'm looking at my pile asking myself..... "do I have enough wood for the rest of the year??" I still have a bunch of really big logs to split.... It's not gonna happen this weekend... We also got the upstairs living area all squared up. There was just stuff from the holidays and just a cleaning was in order.... House looks good. We might be having one of my buds over that I used to work with at the dealer. My bud Ernie..... We worked next to each other for years.... This guy is a trip... Back in the day he had keys for the dealership service dept. He would go into the dealer on Sundays and do all of his side jobs... Till the one Sunday came and the V.P. of the company caught him in there with 10 cars on the lifts..... For real... I would go in on a Monday and Ernie would tell me he's been there all night working.... this went on for years.... Ernie didn't get fired but he had to cool the "side work" thing down... I was also on board with this "side work" gig, but not as much as Ernie. I would do a few side jobs a week after hours. Ernie and I have always been friends. We love music, he was the 1st to get a real audio system back in the day (from all of his side work lol lol). He told me he was shopping for speakers and was going to buy some Klipsch. Back then I knew of Klipsch and even heard them before. But I had my heart set on the big Polk SDA 1.2's.. I was thinking well the Polks are much bigger they have to put out more sound.... Ernie told me that the Klipsch blew the Polks away...... He told me the Polk's couldn't keep up with the amp he was looking at. I was like no way... how can this be???? This was long before I knew anything about efficiency of speakers... Ernie bought a new pair of ChorusII's with a Caver TFM-42. He brought them over to my old house one weekend and after a good ear and chest pounding I knew Klipsch and Carver would be in my future.... Ernie owns his own shop and has for many years... he got his shop years before I left the dealer, he has always wanted me to work for/with him... But he was unable to give me the money I was making at the dealer..... back in the early 90's I was making a killing at the dealer... Anyway Ernie and I don't talk as much we did, but I called him a few weeks ago and we were catching up on old times. I was telling him about my new JBL set up... I was saying how the JBL's makes the Chorus sound like a set of book shelf speakers..... he was like no way. So it was The BOSS who called Ernie this past Friday to tell him to get over to the house cuz it's been too long since we've hang out.... So hopefully he'll come on over today... Ok gang that's about it.... I did manage to catch up on a bunch of posts and I ended up running out of "likes" lol lol...... 100 is the max in a day Check back later... MKP :-)

  44. Funny you mentioned that. Two years ago we hit a low of -18 one night. My $14 cheapo TSC thermometer froze that night, it was stuck at -8 The repetition of the same stuff is what gets me too. Last week the local media predicted 3-5" of snow. All we got was a dusting. So they get in the TV SUVs and went driving around looking for me snow. That is cold. I'll bet a few folks are waking up with no water, got to leave a faucet running.
